The REAL Odeal on Odoyle!!!

Yo has been very helpful for me, he does have quirky side of him and can get a little pushy but I’m old enough to simply ignore that part. Example: bought alpha 6 due to his recommendation but didn’t fit my need and interestingly he bought mine because I didn’t like it, interesting guy for sure. Everyone has a good and bad side since we are all human. I for sure will check out his new site for giggles, at least for the next great deal he dug up.

he told me he had some personal issues and been listening to music as a way to cope, definitely agree that they are not airgun related. Michael’s post on the ODoyle thread seemed very reasonable and even keeled and I hope both sites are successful in their own ways. Seems unlikely Yo will be back soon so we can all move on till if/when he gets back, he will be missed by many.

I checked the feedback on Tony,YoDoyle, etc. on the Old Yellow (Tapatalk) archive. I was there in 1997 but pretty much left in 2004. Sold all my airguns as I moved to a very powder burner friendly area, and the site was extremely over moderated. Tony had a lot of GOOD feedback there for years, prior to about 2015 if I recall correctly. It became clear to me, that something happened in his life. His positive feedback went to negative like flipping a light switch. I will not judge him by the bad, but choose to remember the good things I saw posted about him. Things happen in life, and obviously he was greatly affected by some set of circumstances at that point. I hope his site does well. More choices are better for all of us as air gunners. I've been computer literate since 1982. I predate the Internet, but am too selfish with my time to have ever considered running a forum, so for that I give him and Michael and others who do it, credit.

Lovers or haters of Odoyle... I'd appreciate if everyone kept their comments in line with our pleasant culture. Odoyle was not banned from AGN, though he did receive a few warnings 😜

As I wrote in a separate topic:

Tony received information about the Impact M3 before it was released. Without naming names he started a topic about "a new product from a large manufacturer is coming in a few days", "the safety is reversed and it will cause dangerous problems", "join me in a petition to stop this before it's released".

He was asked not to share private information, create drama, speculation, or sabotage products that hadn't even hit the market. He was also asked (numerous times) to refrain from posting non airgun related music videos.

Despite rubbing a lot of people the wrong way, Tony was generally a helpful person. I personally believe that he has done a good job rectifying his past. Should he continue to post I can only hope that he respects our wishes. Should he start his own forum, best of luck to him. He always felt that the Wild West mentality was more attractive. His account here on AGN is still active.

Now let's get back to airgunning!

The dilemma is this: if his new website is successful he will need a big pocket full of money to pay the hosting fees without ads. if it is not successful...obviously nobody will care.

I recall seeing one "no BS" airgun forum start up by folks who thought they had been overly moderated elsewhere. it didn't take long to melt down and rules had to be created....imagine that??!!

The other challenge is that new forums are often populated by the same guys who are posting on the old forums, so you see the same content. I think the genius that saved AGN from floundering in me-too-ville was the innovative RDW approach that brought a lot of new members by offering great content.

Got a text from him this morning. Guess he's starting his own, no BS, no sponsorship (his words) airgun forum beginning Monday. Airgunverse.com

Good luck Odoyle! Here's the text: airgunverse.com new airgun forum SELF funded no sponsors opens on Monday no BS anything goes spread the word should have donevot past year

Thanks for the heads up. I've been an administrator on a few boards--still am on a couple, and it can be a pain at times. I wish him the best.

Beware the AIR GUNNER who has an opinion on nearly EVERY SUBJECT ..... never discloses WHO they actually are ..... Seldom backs up or openly has conversation on any subject pertaining to any actual meat & potatoes data or self discovered facts or even deep thought conversation about AIR GUNS.

Attention seekers & want-to-be influencers the internet already has too many off !!

Have fun !!

A point.

Good luck YO. The man clearly has a lot of experience in his realm of things. I've always taken his words with a grain of salt due to the amount of anonymity he carries with him, and overall lack of backing for what info he does give out. I've tried to do business with him in the past, and it seemed he basically wanted me to take a loss or break even with extra steps aquiring a used item... when I could get it for less new in one step. Odd. But it seems he does help a lot of people. And I do appreciate that. I'll check out the new site if I can honestly remember to. I'm sure it will surface in future conversation.

I find that the post on any site are like tools in a box. You look in then take the tool that you need and leave the rest in the box.

Odoyle has made some post that I have found most useful . I am sure that his post in the future will have some great advice .

I don't know the feller so I can't judge if I like him as a pal. I usually don't tell anyone much about my self cause you don't need to know, but if asked for advice I will try to give good advice.

My Two Cents

God Bless

Bobby

I'd say THE point, not just a point.
