My FX Impact .30 loves Predator Polymags with the tips removed! They fit fine in the Impact's mag and they shoot great, too! I'm getting the same tight groups at my 25 yd zero that I do with the JSBs. Plus, I get only a 2.00" drop at 63 yds as opposed to a 4.53" drop at 65 yds w/ the JSBs. I have not yet run this data through Chairgun to get the BC, because I have yet to Chrony the Polymags; but the Polymags with the tips removed have to have a better BC than the JSBs. Nobody's more amazed than I!

After I get a full print-out from Chairgun with the hold-offs out to the effective range of my baby, I will field range the results. Keep ya posted! I'm very pleased, because I very well may have found an excellent hunting round for my FX Impact .30 at last!
 
Well, I just calculated BC and plugged 'n chugged Chairgun. The numbers are great. I get a BC of 0.042 with the Polymags with the tips totally removed. That’s a marked improvement over the BC of 0.022 of the JSB Exact 50s. Compared to the JSB Diabolo Exact 50s, I’m getting 40 more yards on my reticle (out to 158 yds) with 30.1 ft# at that range (up from 20 ft#). The hollow points of the Polymags will certainly deliver more energy into the animal than the domed JSBs. If the accuracy is commensurate with that of the JSBs, I found my new pellet!

How did you remove the tips from the polymags?

Plinkster (I like that name, BTW!). I've tried to change my name from "marcella69" to "Animal Hitman," but the AGN platform won't do it. But that's not why you called. To remove the tips, I simply firmly grasped the tip with a heavy needle-nose pliers and rocked the tip back and forth until it popped out. (The plastic tips are merely pressed into the soft lead pellet.) Just hold the pellet in your hand so it does not get deformed, and be careful not to mar the pellet with the pliers.

But before we get all excited about the prospect of replacing the uber-accurate JSB Diabolo Exacts with the Polymags with the tips removed, please be advised that I have not yet field tested the long-range accuracy of the tipless Polymags. I plan on doing that today. But the calculated BC using the POI method and the tight group I got at my 25 yd zero is very promising, and I'm optimistic that I can get good groups throughout the effective range of my Impact. I'll keep you posted!

Ed_MA, thanks for that! That's the exact BC I get for the tip-less Polymags (using the POI method) out of my FX Impact .30. It's nice to get some confirmation :). I was flabbergasted with my field results, and doubted them; even though my methodology and practice was sound w/ the results being repeatable.

I'm really excited about using the Polymags in my Impact magazine. I was out hunting again yesterday and I'm dropping more game with the Polymag hollowpoints than with the JSB domed. The JSBs just pass right through the game and half the time the animal gets away. The most important ballistic metric in hunting is the amount of energy dumped into the animal; and boy, the Polymags really deliver on that front!

Thanks a lot and thanks on the compliment. I'm going to try to remove the tips from the polymags so I can use the original mag. I have a single shot tray also but I rather use the 14shot mag in the field.
