I'm sorry to read that the front sight is messed up!
Cleaning a replacement gun isn't my idea of fun either...!!
I really hope for you that you'll find a better solution.
On another note, you write: If I ever do scope it I will probably go with a swfa ss in 6x.
Honestly I think fixed power is fine for airguns.
In fact I would love it if swfa came out with a 2x 3x or 4x.
My reaction: ➔
I'm continually amazed at the diversity of airgunners we meet on the forums!
You see: On the one hand I'm totally with you when you say that you'd want a
2x, 3x, or 4x magnification scope!
= I want the same, and depending on the type of hunting 3x is great, and 4x is still good enough — but not 5x or 6x.
On the other hand, about a year ago the
Parrus was on the top of my buying list. Because I wanted the power of a
magnum springer — to shoot out to
longer ranges, 50y and beyond that, not just sub-25y game.
And for that a
3x nor a 6x does nothing for me — I'll need 12x, but more likely
16x, or 20x.

So, I want to shoot
sub-25y game,
AND — because I have a magnum gun — shoot long range,
50y+.
And that is
only feasible with a variable magnification scope: 3-12x, or 4-16x, or an amazingly versatile 6-power zoom
3-18x that allows me to see the pellet holes in my target cards at 100y.
(6-24x are very common, but the 6x is too much for short-range work. I need a wider field of view to acquire my targets, especially if they are mobile.)
➔ So, I guess, I'm trying to understand the reasoning behind your desire to have a fixed mangification scope — limiting you to one magnification, in this case, 2x, 3, 4, 5, or 6x.
➔ I'm not criticising you — YOU are the one shooting the gun, so the scope needs to work for YOU.
Just trying to understand why people make such a choice.
Peace, and happy shooting, my friend!!
