I think that anybody that has a hard time shooting Springers should definitely give that gun a try.I wanted just a little extra power so I bought the HW 50. And it is very easy to shoot for me. I am one of them people that cannot shoot the high powered Springers accurately.

As soon as I saw the title I thought... I bet it's an HW30. I've always wanted an older R7 with the muzzle break. Eventually maybe I'll find a nice clean one that hasn't been opened up or messed with.

Great review, great airgun! One of those guns that everyone should own at least once. Light weight, well built, accurate, great trigger, not too hold sensitive, easy to cock, quiet, etc... I will never get rid of mine. The ONLY minor bad thing is the automatic safety.

My springer is a Beeman R9 so it is close. I just have the TK Macarri magic to it. This week I will send photos of it.

Yep, I bought my first one nearly 35 years ago. Wife loves this one. It's so pretty. Well kept.
Have an HW30 with a Burris 4x compact. Also a Huntington Beach R7 with steel Burris rings and old school 3-9x32 ao. Bushnell Air rifle scope. Handed that one to my neighbor and he shot his best ever group with it first try. He has a 97.

First pellet rifle,1981 R7 bought at Beeman store in San Rafael,always will have it,3 rebuilds and 100,000s of thousands of pellets through it.
So glad it was my first pellet rifle=never was discouraged while learning to shot a springer.

Huntington Beach R7 only mine is in .20 caliber and wears a Hawke Airmax 3-9x40 AO scope in Hawke rings. I got mine used but would appear it's never been opened and just plain sweetttttt to shoot.
I also have it's big brother the Beeman R9 also in .20 with a Hawke Airmax 4-12x40 AO in Hawke rings and an HW95 .22 with a Hawke Airmax 3-9x40 AO and Hawke rings.

The Eighties and earlier 90's some very fancy beech stocks occasionally came on Beemans. I saw a really gorgeous pre safety R7 auctioned a year ago and let it end without bidding. I began kicking myself immediately. Medullary rays like the one I showed above. I think it went at $200. And it looked mint. A few months ago a really good looking R9 went on eBag. I'm very remorseful about that one too. Beautiful medullary ray patterns. When I clicked back to see it again it was Gonzo! Snooze you loose.
I have not seen recent beech Beeman stocks with rays like that. They were quarter sawn. I have seen a few recent flat sawn beech that look ok.

Intenseaty22, it's not my favorite springer but I can't argue that the HW30 isn't the most recommended spring gun, especially when you consider that it's often recommended for woman of small stature or kids to shoot. My wife loves hers, finding the slightly larger R8 to be too much gun. After I outgrew my "magnum mania" the HW30/R7 was a natural choice.
I gotta agree with Odoyle that the FWB300 is among the top should-have air rifles.....it's my favorite for short range, off-hand target shooting and easier for me to hold steady than the flyweight HW30/R7 is. But the 300 has a lotta heft, maybe a little much for some and it'll wear me out before the HW30/R7 does.

I almost got one, but the short length of pull, and lacking power in .22 pushed me toward a 50S. Couldn't be happier with it

I found a nice old no safety version years ago, it was shooting very weak (around 500fps if I recall). It became my first tuning project ever, I went with a Macarri kit, piston seal and a long barrel weight which I feel balances the rifle much better than without one. Super accurate now and can be shot all day, fps on this one is around 640 with 8.4gr after the tune

Wow, that's another sweet old rig! I think I need to start going to garage sales to see if I can find a nice R7, FWB300S, HW55, etc.
