The limit is starting to seem low

This is a few days after the hunt but just now getting time to post. I hunted both Saturday and Sunday this past weekend. The wind was horrible in Kentucky on Saturday and I only got three squirrels and only saw 4-5 total. That brought my Maverick tally to 19 for the season. Sunday was a better day but I had less time to give. Didn’t matter though because I limited out again at 6 squirrels bringing my total to 25 after hunting 5 times this season. Can’t complain when the forecast calls for it to rain squirrels from the trees. And I did revisit the .30 hybrids and must admit they were devastating this time out. Like most things I’m thinking the less than perfect results my first two hunts with them was most likely my fault. Getting more confident with this new to me caliber and new rifle every hour in the woods. Still can’t decide if the .30 is worth it over a well tuned 50-60 fpe.25 for anything I’ll be chasing. Deer law requires .35 and up and I have dedicated rifles and crossbows for them depending on the regulations at the time. Sure is fun though hearing that thwack of a good headshot with the hollow .30 slugs. And now the graphic stuff

The first two pics are from Saturday. First one of the day was a fairly big one so it got a solo pic. The rest of the pics are from Sunday. They were having trouble keeping their eyeballs in place Sunday. The fox squirrel actually stopped the hybrid and I found it when cleaning for the pot. Not much left of the slug. Somewhat confirmed my theory about them breaking apart in game but they dropped everything instantly this weekend. Just the twitchy nerve dance when they hit the ground. Still don’t think I’ll try them on anything larger than a squirrel. I’d love to see them go through some ballistic gel so we could know exactly what’s happening as they travel through our targets.
