The Labradar Chronograph has my attention, but I'm wondering . . . . . .

will it work with something as small as a .177 pellet, say 7 or 8 gr? I figured those of you who own one may know.

I currently use a ProChrono or an FX Chronograph, but wanted something that would collect data on my pellets as they fly to the target. I'd set it for V5, V10, V15, V20 and V25 yard readings.

I've watched some YT videos and sure like what I see. I've just got to convince myself to spend the bucks, but don't want to buy it, if it can't read small pellets like .177.

I know I'd need to also buy the microphone trigger for it, because PCP air rifles are suppressed.




 
Mine works just fine with light 177s but seems to lose track of the smallest ones before 75 yds. For the quietest ones, the microphone has to be fairly near and pointed at the muzzle exit and set on the highest sensitivity.

Nice unit to use. Lighting not an issue but background noise may be. Put a good memory card in plus download the app to save a lot of strings. Either can make it much easier to transfer the strings to a pc to use a spreadsheet for analysis .

Thanks odoyle. Steve is phenomenal when he does a review - of anything. I've made several purchases after hearing/seeing one of his reviews..

I've never heard of a .177 shooting accurately as far as that Daystate does. I have two .177s, an Air Venturi Avenger and Benjamin Marauder and they pale when compared to that Daystate, but they are also much friendlier on my bank account and at the 35-yd distance I shoot, will do for me..

But I do have two nice Daystates, a Wolverine R in .22 and a Wolverine HP R in .25 and really like them. I wasn't sure about this "electoninc" air rifle, thinking it may be prone to having problems, but reckon I was wrong after listening to Steve.

Thanks again for the video, I've seen lots of Steve's videos, but somehow had missed this one.

Well, you guys sure answered my question. It can record a .177. I only shoot out to about 35 yards, so the 75 yard issue that Arzrover talked about doesn't really matter to me.

After what F-classmike said, I may or may not buy the mic trigger. My PCPs aren't real loud and I'd read from another that his LabRadar didn't do well without the mic. But with what Arzrover said, I'll probably get the mic trigger anyway.

Thanks all for helping me make up my mind.

Now I wonder, since I just a plinker, do I really need this expensive chrony. I just think it would be cool to see how the pellet's performance changes as I goes down range.

I have one. I have never used it for 177. But I use it regularly for 22 and 25. Each gun/barrel has to be placed slightly differently. Usually 3 inches high and about 3 inches back. But once you figure out the location for each gun works like a champ. It is $$$, but works well for me. 


I also have their base plate which sucks. I now use my camera tripod which works well.

Thanks for the tip, RANGER94, about barrel placing. If I get it, I'll be putting it on a tripod, my other chronies also work off a tripod.

Mine ok for your need I think ... i use the microphone trigger. Only tried to 50y, .22 good, .177 so-so at that distance, but fine at closer.
