It only gets 200fps or so but the steel it's capable of shooting is big enough to put a thump on something. Pretty much a toy at this point . I am curious what the accuracy is. I bet these will be pretty awesome guns in 50 years when batteries and capacitors run on dylithium crystals.

My mind got to think if it was possible to make a vacuum pellet gun as some make vacuum cannons that shoot SOB fast, and making a vacuum must be easier than creating a large pressure ?

Really? I think one atmosphere is 14.5 psi, and the highest possible vacuum is minus 14.7 psi, (which isnt even practical to achieve). Its EASY to get positive pressures of say … 100psi or more, but its impossible to get high vacuum of over -14.7psi. Nope, high velocity tubes often use vacuum evacuated tubes to eliminate excess air friction that slows projectiles …. Its not to help “suck” projectiles to higher speeds.

I have been reading about electromagnetic rifles for years. Even in the 80's I can remember finding some Popular Mechanics from the 60's that discussed this soon-to-be-relevant technology... And, we're still not there. This is a pretty cool proof of concept, but not at all compelling. It needs a 5-fold performance increase and a 5-fold reduction in weight. Those two being at odds with each other, I'd say a practical emag gun (even just for birds and rats) is still a long way off.
