The Evanix Rex FA! (video added)

I love the way the Rex looks. They just need to make a mag fed version with a factory reg to make it a serious contender.

It looks like all versions are compatible with each other's air reservoirs so you can choose between optimal weight, size and shot count for what you're doing. i wonder how many shots you get with the bottle from the 9mm pistol.

"ajshoots"I have never understood why airgun makers don't offer .257? Maybe because there are no pellets in .257 just bullets? As Cedric and others have shown over the years, a .257 moving around 1000fps is capable of some amazing things!!
I second that. .257 should become a standard airgun caliber.... Perfect for hunting, long range sniping, can be tuned ridiculously well. All positives.

Dan25Looks much like some of the Air Force guns to me. Is there that much new here or just a little different?

I agree it isn't revolutionary by any means. Possibly just another single shot high power option like the AF guns. The inline valve/tank setup is what allows the AF guns to produce so much power and Evanix just used what has been proven for years to work. That quality is what makes the AF guns so good in .257 and other high power custom builds. I expect the Rex will offer much the same. Just wish AF had better triggers and unfortunately sounds like the Rex also has a subpar trigger.

The only things that are new are the 9mm pistol and the under-lever action. The only 9mm pistols previously available were limited custom jobs. I could see the under-lever appealing to left-handed shooters who are not very well catered for generally.

It is all very similar to the af guns though, espiecially this latest long bottle model. The pricing is also similar to AF which could be a problem for Evanix. The AF guns come with LW barrels which are generally considered to be higher quality than Korean barrels.

No pellets in .257......Long range caliber......

Diabolo shaped projectiles have an absolutely horrible Ballistic coefficient (they are drag stabilized) and therefore are not generally suitable for "Long Range". This is the primary reason .257 shooters use cast bullets because they are available with some very good BC's.

That does indeed look like an AirForce Knockoff!!!

"T3PRanch"True enough. I have been a fan of .257 since my childhood as my Granddad did a lot of experimental casting, loading and shooting that caliber in powder burners (257 Roberts to be exact).

The MacR is available in .257 and a few of the high power big bore makers offer a .257 barrel option. The Macr is a .257 repeater so it might be worth a look. They sell .257 ammo for it too. It's all cast projectiles but that it what you need for their guns.

What advantage would .257 projectiles have over .30 for long range shooting? Are we just talking about the general differences between pellets and cast bullets or is there something specific about the caliber? I can see a potential advantage to using a heavier projectile with a smaller diameter in terms wind resistance.

I usually have better luck with pellets than cast bullets in my air guns. I assumed this was because most air rifle barrels have the wrong twist rate / power combo for bullets.
