The D-Wolf Deals a Deadly Duce, with interesting results…

I had a great day. I whacked a red squirrel 🐿 early this morning. Then I had to get ready to go pheasant hunting and when I was done getting ready, I went back to the D Wolf 🐺. 25 caliber, 34 grain, 900 ft./s.

I have a bench set up, I’m shooting out the window from about 4 feet inside the room. It was eight below out this morning. It was pretty calm. My first shot hit ratio from the bench is very high. The corn pile is at 101 yards.

I had about 20 minutes before my ride was going to pick me up. I sat down to the Delta wolf. There were two squirrels to choose from. I folded one of them, he went down hard. Then he did the two handed crawl to the hollow log. He was not moving very fast, but fast enough to get to the log before I could shoot again. I never mean to wound anything, but it happens. The good news is, at eight below Zero (-8) it’s over pretty fast. You can see his blood trail below. It’s the only one so far this year that has not been retrieved. I must’ve been a hair low and cut the spine.

The next one was interesting because I couldn’t get to him with the rifle on the bench. Trees were in the way. My alternative plan was to rest my hand on the windowsill and use that as an aid and shoot him. It wasn’t the right height. So I lined him up offhand. When I pulled the trigger, the crosshairs were rocksolid on his neck. A red dot appeared where the crosshairs were, and he folded like a cheap balloon in an old cartoon.

I have to admit I was pretty pumped. I practice offhand at long distance quite often.

I found it quite ironic, that the high-risk offhand shot delivered the instant kill. The DELTA 🐺 Wolf feels like a laser in the offhand position. I’m considering it for field target. I need a 17 barrel. Or another Delta Wolf.

Penny was ready for pheasant hunting, she likes to crawl on trees…

thanks

I’m used to shooting full-blown field target rifles offhand, which are heavy. The Delta Wolf with the little tiny March I have on it - is not heavy at all. I am going to put a bigger scope on. Obviously it feels good…You need to get that rail underneath the bottle. It feels perfect for your hand, and perfect for a front rest, or knee rest.
