I wanted one 25 cal in longest possible barrel length and shortest possible gun case that can fit in, so I got myself an Impact MK2 PP, which I upgraded several times and currently is a heavily ported beast.

I want now a shorty 22 that can fit/fold into a daypack and I can go gravel biking just anywhere out of reach.

If I would be inpatient I would already grab and rebuild one Dreamline into foldable tactical, but somehow my guts telling me to wait for new shipments in about 6-8 weeks...

But a brain is schooling... with a Dreamline variation I may end up my total costs close to a Maverick (or may even exceed the $$) ...

To go bullpup again? or keep a track chasing my dream for a ultra compact - modular - foldable - carabine

and wait...endless...omg if we would know what brings tomorrow ???

Don't think the DTC would fit in a backpack, ok it would but not sure about the unsupported free floating barrel in a pack pack. Then it's too heavy anyways for a backpack gun if you ask me. Only gun I know that can be a true backpack gun would be the L2 250mm with a super light red dot or the new vortex spitfire 3 or 5x prism scope. My poor man's backpack gun is my PP700 with the cheap folding stock. Then the AP16 pistol with a carbine stock is pretty cool but I'm not a fan of the conversion kit, made it way too bulky and complicated. Then there is the PP750 which is multishot. Guess it all depends on the size of your backpack.

I don't care for cycling with a large backpack so I would steer you towards a Leshiy. I don't have a Leshiy 2 but I believe the dimensions are similar.

Even a 350 mm barrel is a bit long for my old mountain biking pack but it wouldn't be a big deal to carry the extension kit separately and install it, assuming you don't need access to it for quick shots that present themselves. There is also that DonnyFL adapter that allows you to just screw on a separate moderator which would probably be even easier. It does add a bit of length.

Some of the more streamlined backpacks geared towards the task at hand might be better for cycling but I haven't tried them. I have a nearly twenty year old Camel Back pack that is a bit tight for my Leshiy Classic with the scope hanging over by about an inch. That's with the 250mm barrel.

When one speaks of a backpack gun any more, the first thing which comes to my mind is a Leshiy Classic (250mm). I've had mine for only a couple of weeks now, but what a capable little gun. Not inexpensive, but when you handle and use one for the first time, it just screams 'value for money.' Plenty of fun for the ~12 full power shots per fill I am getting from mine but I wasn't looking for a bottle gun with this one. Got my Impact Compacts for that.

It is an accurate little bugger, easy to shoot, and is tuned to be very happy with JSB 15.89's for plinking. And then I can switch right over to Hades for when I want to go squirreling.

Don't know the hurdles you need to go through in Canada to get certain air guns. But living in California I have had to go through the middleman route many times in the past to get certain powder burners due to State laws, and I know that it sure gets old (and expensive) fast.

My best understanding is that the Canada police/lawmakers must do an approval process anything new make and model comes across the border. The FX Impact squeezed through a gap somewhere back in time and this is the only bullpup currently allowed.

I am eyeing the Leshiy for long time and whomever asked from my local dealers nobody have a straight answer (other then it would be pretty expensive excersize), just sent out an email to my FX distributor/dealer this morning, not expecting answer withing day or two. But looks like a middleman is an only way to go, I have no free $$$$ for exposal if the shipping gets returned from the border.

And btw LDC's are a big NO-NO here and some other tricks like "shorter barrel firearms (handguns) you cannot just put in a backpack and ride around, there is a minimum barrel length (or total length) that will not be considered a handgun....the story is full of BS

My understanding of the bull pup law here is if the stock can be taken off and the gun can be fired it's a no go (with OAL thrown into the equation somewhere). The Impact is inoperable if it's dismantled. The original Leshiy can't be fired in a folded format so it's okay, from what I understand. I'm not a lawyer or greasy politician in real life so I could be wrong.

For what it's worth.... I have both the Taipan Shorty and DreamTac Compact. In my opinion, the Taipan is WAYYYYY sturdier and robust. I have no doubt it could hold up in a backpack. The DreamTac Compact is a great gun and super accurate, but I feel like it's a bit more delicate....I'm not sure if the gauges on that gun or side lever would get bent or something...

Also agree the Leshiy classic is an awesome choice...I had one and it's WAY smaller than the Taipan or DreamTac, and feels like a little bat when it's open. Super sturdy.

I just put my name on the list for a Leshiy2, will see how the shipping goes. Not expecting less then two weeks but more like end of July....

Please keep us in the loop.

Would luv to know if you get that airgun too

Not in July as I sad, and I can wait for it in a shade :)

Surprised its taking that long. I just ordered one on July 5th and tracking says it should be here today!!

Of course, I don’t live in Canada (any more) so the shipping is a little simpler and there are no customs issues
