In 1974 I was 12. My older brother had just bought a fairly high end Airgun (I was still shooting a daisy BB gun, that had a trajectory like a rainbow ) Along with it came a brochure for the Incredible Sheridan Blue and Silver Streaks...Plus a new model, that you didn’t have to pump. Can you imagine such a thing? It was still called a silver or blue streak, but used CO2 as a propellant. This made it virtually unobtainable for a 12-year-old with a paper route.
I wonder how many times I looked at that brochure, read all of the specifications and drooled over those rifles.
I did buy my first blue streak a couple years later after saving all my money, but it was the pump up type. It was in the inconceivable that I would buy something that would require both a propellant and a pellet to be purchased. I could hardly afford that yellow box of pellets.
I picked up this CO2 BlueStreak a few years back, to scratch that old itch. I decided to take it out and shoot it last weekend. amazing!
The group I posted below was shot with this rifle, open sites 30 yards off hand.
I literally shot it all day. I went through six of those incredibly expensive CO2 cartridges!
The trigger on this rifle is absolutely fantastic for a sport or hunting rifle. The velocity ranges from just under 500 ft./s, down to about 450. I didn’t count but it feels like it gets about 30 good shots.
I threw a towel beneath the target so I could capture a fired pellet. I’m using 14.3 grain crossman 20 caliber pellets. They are no longer made. As you can see from the pellet that I collected, there’s plenty of power out to about 45 yards.
The ergonomics, fit and finish of this rifle are absolutely fantastic. That may be because I carried its cousin the pump model for many years chasing after starlings and Blue Jays.
Just as an FYI, every time I look at that rifle I want to peel that yellow sticker off. It would’ve have lasted 5 seconds had I bought this rifle new back in 74...now it’s part of the story.
