The Backup Rig... my Compatto

Since I got my Bantam Sniper back in September the Compatto took a back seat as my primary, mostly based on shot count. It holds its own otherwise against the Bantam and was the reason I purchased the Bantam. The Bantam is great for target shooting, plinking and autonomous pesting, I don't have to bring an SCBA to refill it because I get at least 100 shots per 240 bar fill. After reading a recent thread about wandering zeros on PCPs after they been stored a day, a week, etc. I decided to pull the Compatto out and see if that was the case. It was dead on its 40 yard zero even though I seldom shoot it. I do a lot of plinking which the Bantam excels at. Five shots went into a dime at POA. So I decided to take the Compatto down to the dairy. I get 20-25 solid shots from 240 bar down to 150 bar, plenty for pesting. The only time I've needed more than that was when I was shooting roosting starlings. Anyway the first shot of the day was a kill on a pigeon feeding in the field at 60 yards, I had to hold two MOA for wind. I took the shot from the prone position atop of that feed tunnel where the Compatto is laying. My second pigeon was also from the prone position at 54 yards, picture of the hay wagon wheel. The last pigeon was at 40 yards I rested the Compatto on the top rail of the fence and held 1 MOA for wind, 3rd pigeon down. Two starling kills were from 35-43 yards inside the barn the last starling at 45 yards outside. It was a good day for the Compatto, which has earned it keep as my sleeper backup gun. The wind was from the Northwest at 7-11 mph.

Nice work L.L.!

What scope is that on your Compatto?

Do you adjust for elevation or holdover?

It’s an Aztec Emerald FFP, I did dial for elevation today, but in general use holdovers with this scope. I have an Athlon Helos BTR FFP on my Bantam which I dial elevation all the time. I did post a side by side comparison of the two scopes a few months ago.

love the compatto. nice rig LLeon!

since i got mine, my .25 wildcat took the backseat. i cant put the compatto down!
keep up the Compatto posts!

Yes, it is a dandy... easy to fill from a hand pump, accurate with different pellets. The ergonomics are very nice and shooting it is pleasant. I still enjoy mine very much. it has a permanent slot in my lineup.

since you have your bantam sniper, i would consider tuning your compatto down a bit to get more shots. maybe even add a reg! tune it down to 20 fpe is huge for added shot count.

@l.leon - your post encouraged me to take mine out today. Unfortunately the pigeons and starlings were nowhere in sight except for 1 of each. The Compatto dropped them at 65 yards off the top of silo with the NSA 17.5 grain slug. I really enjoyed having it out.

Very, nice the pigeons and starlings remembered how deadly it is in your hands and stayed away. Good shooting and good to know the Compatto likes the NSAs. I will be ordering some this weekend.
