Tuning the .30 cal VULCAN 3 (Pics and Tuning)

Hey guys, Here is the beautiful VULCAN 3 from Tony. This thing is really light...with and without a scope...light weight gun. They shaved weight in many places. Out of the box this gun has an 8 ounce trigger and shoots 44gr JSB pellets at 1020 FPS. It shoots 54gr ZAN at 950 FPS and 59gr ZAN at 920F FPS with good accuracy. Not sure the accuracy on the 44gr yet. I would like to turn the gun down after I run out of slugs. Threaded shroud is NOT 1/2 UNF. The gun is only $1800 though...so you should have money left over for a Donny FL adapter right?

Anyone know if this is a velocity adjustment screw? If so which way to turn it and does it need to be uncocked? (nothing in the manual).

As i recall these are 14 mm in the end of the barrel, for your lead collector of choice, the barrel is 38 mm / 1.5 inch OD if you want a matching lead collector, the screw in the back are the hammer spring adjuster as i understand it, on the V2 this protrude a bit and i think it was adjustable with no tool needed.

As i also recall the .30 is a sluggger, but not sure this mean slugs are way better and pellets would perform less desirable ?

IMO Tony sending this in.30 is a bit of a let down, even if many a US airgunner are probably liking the option for a hard hitting .30 cal hunting weapon, but i think the bulk of sales will be in the lesser calibers.

I think / thats my understanding all the 700 mm barrels are poly from Alfa Precision, 500 mm Barrels are Hammer forged CZ barrels

No doubt AGT could easy make their company page a lot better, for sure it is not there they spend their energy.

Do you have any 100 yd groups with slugs? Not interested in pellets. Have you completed a video yet? Contact Derrick (ZX10WALL?) here as he is a rep for them in USA.

I'm using 54gr and 59gr ZAN slugs in the accuracy portion of the video. I won't have time to contact Derrick for the slugs but that is a great idea. I can only spend one day with the gun. That is today and I will use up 2 packs of ZANs and at least a full tin of JSB blasting stuff. Once I run out of slugs I will tune it down for pellet plinking.

Does anyone remember the best speed for 44 grain JSB pellets?

Kaylaindy,

I got a V3 from Tony also and turned the gun down to test JSB 44.7 pellets when the weather gets decent again. The hammer spring adjustment is on the back of the receiver just below the stock so you have to remove it. Turn the adjuster counterclockwise to reduce power. It is also secured with a grub screw so loosen it before making adjustments. I set my FPS down to 898 as a starting point from the 1019 it came out of the box. I think recommended FPS is usually 850-900. Should easily be able to push 60 gr. slugs to 1000 fps. Excited to shoot it when it warms up.
