The 25yd Field Target Challenge

John, how have you been doing? It's been awhile since Tennessee. I tried your challenge today. I shoot Open class using my Steyr LG110, March scope, & AA 10.34 gr. pellets @ 880FPS. I shot off of a bum bag using a Creedmoor shooting coat (no harness), knee pad, & Creedmoor shooting gloves. The target I used was a 1'4" red dot on an 1'8" grid pattern. I definitely like shooting paddles better than paper. Boy I was shaky today. All stray shots are on ME!! I shot 5 ten shot groups. the last group I was rushing because the wife was hollering for me to come in and eat supper. Looking forward to seeing you @ the Pyramyd Cup.

Field Target and no .177 cal? What's up with that? Pellets of 8.44 and 10.3 sure look like 17 cal to me. So what's the deal?

Shot these groups this morning from the seated position with a RAW TM 1000 shooting the 10.34's around 900 fps. This is harder than off the bench!!! Also a pictue of the rifle.

I recently finished up working on a HW98 that the owner wanted tuned to "close to 12 fpe". Here is a target I shot at 30 yards using the gun after tuning sitting on a bucket resting the gun on cross sticks when comparing a few pellets provided.............

All groups were 10 shot groups aiming at the Magic Marker "30 Y" labels and I was pleased with the 8.4 grain AA dome group at the top. The first two hits to the right were due to the cleaned bore still steeling in so 7 of the 10 pellets grouped about 1/4" ctc at 30 yards. Then the next group was shot with the 7.84 grain AA Express and I was sure that I was swaying on the bucket becaus eof the shot "pattern". Then I shot 10 of the 8.5 grain H&N Sniper Meciums and WOW.....8 out of 10 flew into about 1/4" ctc cluster at 30 yards from "bucket and sticks" so I'm guessing the the Express pellets shot previously actually weren't good groupers! What really surprised me with this particular HW98 was that I didn't rezero when changing pellets and the poi didn't move between the different brands very much at only 30 yards with the center of light weight AA Express group a bit higher than the others!

Shot these groups from the seated position using a harness tonight. RAW TM1000 shooting JSB 8.44 gr at around 970 fps. Basically calm conditions. I've decided that whenever I post pictures of groups, I'm going to post both the smallest group and the largest group. That feels about right. So, here are both and a picture of all the groups.

Awesome shooting. I've final found a tin of pellets my EV2 likes out to 50yds. I'll be saving that one, I'll test another tomorrow after work.
