If I was to buy a used high end airgun which ones have replaceable barrels , so if the used gun needs to be fixed.

I just got a Skout Epoch Compact (.30). Easy to change barrels. Takes about 30 seconds to remove.

I was that guy and bought an AGT Uragan 3, my requirements were 177 and will shoot pellets and slugs accurately. That being said, I’m already saving for the next high end rifle.

I never like buying used anything. But I learned from getting some used race engines cheap. NEVER try to start a used race engine. You have to take them completely apart and check everything or forget it. With a used airguns I feel the same way. I need to take it completely apart. And if the gun is an expensive top end product parts can be obtained with out difficulty and there are some aftermarket goodies.
So if I buy used it would be a used 2000 dollar gun.

If weight matters: Crosman Challenger in .177. aprox $1100 fully prepped.
next up a TM 1000 tube version or HMX 1000 in .177 bottle version (high shot count)
Daystate Revere,,,, .177 a solid gun with a 5 year warranty that wont break the bank!

a $2K thomas is like a unicorn, impossible to find, even used they sell at $3700.00 if cared for.

what gun you buy depends very much on your philosophy OF air gun shooting . Personally i do not think any gun over 12 FPE (TO ME )is not an Air Gun any longer . I only shoot bench rest now that i am older , 50 yards is long range for an air gun . YMMV ! As far as $$$ are concerned ? their is no limit on happiness , what ever it takes .

Any of the PCPs in the BRK lineup would maybe excepting the Atomic (16-17 fpe) The Snipers, Commander, Pathfinder and the Ghost. I’ve owned five different models. Still own three. Atomics x2, Pathfinder and Ghost Carbine, all of them are simply solid PCPs that perform on demand…

I've read that the RTI Prophet barrel is easily replaceable. But really just about any air rifle is replaceable. It is the pellet probe which may be easier or harder to replace. I have two barrels for my P35-25, for instance. I bought the second from Krale and waited most of a year to get it (due to SPA, I believe, not Krale). I thought the original was not very accurate. But I retuned the gun for a new bigger plenum while waiting and the original barrel is quite accurate, about equal to the replacement. But they like different pellets. I'm pretty sure the pellet probe can also be changed so you could change calibers but I've never attempted it. The guns are cheap enough I just bought one of each (and actually have multiples of the 22 and 25 now). All my airguns mount the barrel with a grub screw or two so changing them is pretty simple (except for the Caiman, there is something else going on with it I haven't figured out yet).

OldVet I didn't read through the whole thread but...
#1 what is the farthest you intend to shoot as well as the average distance?
#2 You don't plan on hunting so no need for the larger calibers, and basically just plinking, right??
#3 How often do you plan on filling your gun?
#4 Pellets, slugs, or both?
#5 single shot only or repeater.
What pcp's do you already own?
That's a big gap - $2000 "or twice that"??!!
As far as fun and fast I like my Steyr ProX semiauto the most for shooting steel. High quality, nice trigger, very reliable, surprisingly precise for what it is, about 70 shots per fill/22 cal/29 fpe, bullpup, 10 round removeable mags. It's my #1 plinker!
I like specialized equipment. Each gun I've chosen mainly for specific tasks though there is overlap.
For precision my Thomas's.
For power and slugs my V3 in 25 cal.
Etc
i have a BRK Ghostin .30 cal such an awesome and accurate and well made gun. It just feels good when you shoot it, worth the price in my opinion.

Just got a HM1000x .25 off gunbroker.com auction last week. The older Rapid Air Weapons rather than the current Rapid Air Worx. Got it for $850. I ordered the 35cc plenum and 20cc extension. Turns out they cannot be used on the guns with the giant shroud/moderator attached.I just got a second hand Daystate Wolverine HP-R in .25 cal. And I really want to get a RAW HM1000X
So i came up with plan B.
Plenum > 1/8" shim > M18-1.5 male to male > Huben Power Dream Universal regulator > 1.1L bottle.
The shim is for AirForce guns from trajectron.com.
The M18-1.5 adapter is custom made.
I can now fill to 4500psi and change my regulator setting (upward only).
60cc total plenum.
The gun shoots laser beams at 45 yards. Easily as accurate as my FX Royale or Boss.
I pulled the Discovery 5-30x50 scope off because it has serious issues at low mag and minimum focus is 25 yards.
Need some magazines and the new scope and I'll put it on the chrony
