That Other 'Forum'

Yeah honestly I like each one of them for different reasons . But this one is my favorite .
Yellow for me is kinda cool cause if you click on just the forum part your never sure what topics will be discussed and classified section gets most activity .
Talon forum is a lot of fun also but its more of a biker bar forum and anything goes :) Some super cool guys there and a PCP recourse outta this world . And tony the guy who runs it is a good dude .
I honestly wish there was a HuGe update at GTA . The format of the site is AWFUL so I never go there . But there's some good people there also .
This forum is my favorite for a couple of reasons . I like the section layout and its easy to look into what your interested in , the latest post at bottom of homepage is really cool idea , the little check box so you can follow a thread , and it seems to draw more folks like me who aren't newbies but still open to learn and share ideas and info . And I know each forum has folks who bellyache about how the owner or moderators run it but Michael and the moderators to me have an approach to how a forum should be run and they have weeded out folks who just wanna stir the pot so to speak .
Here you can ask a Dumbass question or have a Dumbass idea ( I do it all the time ) and guys help ya out without making ya feel like your wasting their time . Plus there's a lot of good folks here

I'm still trying to figure out who had access to AOL in the 80's? I'm 37 and as far as I can remember AOL didn't exist until the 90's, mid 90's at that.
Anyone remember dial up modems? Eeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrr- weeeeeeoooooooooooweeeeeee-skeeeeeeewwwwwww-weeeeep- errrr.

I believe the yellow is caught in what I call the "in too deep" state of ownership. It works something like this:

You know that guy with that mid 90's car.......it looks mint......runs excellent........means the world to the owner........but in reality it has a kbb value of $1100 and nobody else understands it? For instance.........say, a '92 ford thunderbird super-coupe, it was a nice car (back then) and the poor guy has spent enough time and money keeping her alive to have bought 3 brand new hyundai's, he's tuned everything just the way he likes it, and when he finally gets her all done.........he refuses to do anything else but wash the thing and address small issues. He's in too deep, and he knows it, but there's no turning back now.
If he tried to sell it for what it's worth to him.......people would laugh.
He says $27,000, "it's a classic and I have reciepts", kbb and you and I say $1200 or trade you my old hot tub for it.

1st computer I wanted as a teen was an Altair that was programmed in Binary from switches on the front panel. Worked for TI late in the 70's flooding the market with 4K Dynamic RAM...yes 4K. I had Compuserve in the 80's which was a vast improvement to the Dial up BBS's of the day. Accessed via Dial-up at 300 baud on a Vanilla MAC (one of the 1st 100 off the line at Apple) with no hard drive and ONLY $3500. MAN I feel OLD!

I'm with the OP here. It feels like they don't want to be bothered with basic questions. Newbies: get lost, or you'll be ignored. But if you ask some kind of deep intellectual question, there'll be a debate until it scrolls of the first page.

I like it it for the knowledge base, on the rare occasion when I need some deep guidance. Even then though, I feel like the answers are trying to get laughs and validation from the local Good Old Boys.
