Thanksgiving Suprize hunt.

Was out shooting a used Beman R1 for the first time today. Picked it up at a local gun show back in October. Was doing some pellet testing at 20 yards. Some screws were coming loose and after I tightened them up, over on the wood pile about 40 yards away two Grouse appeared. Missed the first shot. Went for the head. Mistake, as it wasn’t really sighted in. Next shot was high in the body and it just tipped over. The other Grouse was still standing there about 5 yards farther, so I aimed and hit it low in the spine. The pellets I was testing at the time were Gamo Redfire .22. Seems to like them as good or better than the 18 gn JSB. Gun still needs some work and testing. I was shooting off a Caldwell Field Pod. My scope mounts are way to high with a cheap Mantis 3X9x32 scope.

My main hunting (legal for small game) air rifle is a regulated Gamo Coyote .22. Got several grouse with it this season Shooting Hades. My other favorite guns are .25 cal, so I mainl only hunt with them on my property. I have a Red Squirrel problem.

I'm jealous you have grouse at the house!
Also, how do you like that gamo coyote? Been looking at them for a bit now and trying to justify picking up another mid power 22.
Love the feel of the Coyote. Fits me well. Trigger needs a longer screw to get the best feel/ adjustability . Very nice dual stage action and quite adjustable. Love the trigger! Barrel band only hurts accuracy, cut it down. Need the bit on the air tube for the fill port cover to fit properly. Love the magazines (except the cost) and I really like that it is on the left. Makes it easy to see with the left eye, for a right handed shooter anyways. Some flex in the front of the breach so, scope mounting is important as the scope helps to stiffen the assembly. It’s a bit heavy but, it helps off hand and it has great ballance. Hand pump freindly. I installed an Altoros(sp) regulator set at max (tiny plenum) and adjusted the hammer spring down. Mine likes AA 15.89 the best around 850 and is stupid accurate at 30 yards. Likes Hades a lot also at the same power. Before the reg was installed, it liked the 18.13 JSB’s. I get around 45-48 shots on a fill. Also no POI drift, ever!

Cons:
Heavy to carry, Barrel needs to be cleaned after around 300-500 rounds, when accuracy falls off. Need to insert a straw in the suppressor to use a patchworm. Always forget to take the straw back out. Duh!

Hope this helps. Happy thanksgiving,

I sounds alot like my Kral rifle I built so it would kind of redundant I guess. I have a BSA ultra on the way and if I like it I may end up picking up a coyote at some point. Thanks!
