Airforce Texan .510 with lehigh defense controlled fracturing craziness

I ordered a box of these slugs a while back and just tried them out... scary. I would not want to get hit with one of these.

you can see the horrific twisting wound channel in the gel, I would think this would be GREAT for hunting. I made 885 fps, slug weighed in at 239.20 grains, 416.11 fpe.

the petals are like razors. They are quite expensive but Jesus lol.

I wasnt using a sabot. Unless someone makes an ultra thin sabot that's .05 thick I don't see how to do it. Yes I know it will screw up the barrel.

Edit to add:

Maybe someone does make a sabot, I never looked. I saw youtube videos of people shooting them as is. Some people powder coat them or spray other stuff on them. I honestly don't think powder coat would be durable enough to withstand grinding against the grooves in the barrel.

@elittle1234 Try a .45 slug.

@RM.510bigbore Wait. You’re saying that those copper slugs are made for air rifles?
Yes the Leigh defense .510 are a all copper slug 100 percent.... And yes can be used in any .510 big bore pcp.They are designed in a way to have a very thin skirt that expands with the air and seals the bore.....there only negative is price...

I think they are discontinued :( lehigh removed them from the website. I only have 1 box also.
I just ordered some 50 cal sabots and some .451 lehigh rounds to see how they work.

Edit to add: I ordered the .451 extreme penetrator and .451 extreme defense. I only care about 50 yards or less for these so I'm hoping they work, they aren't cheap, but way cheaper than the .500 slugs! Maybe if I buy a 3d printer I can make .510 sabots.
