Testing my Veteran Long .22

I purchased this gun a couple weeks ago and finally had time to sit down and spend some bench time with it.

I topped it off with an Aeon 6x24x50 30mm sfp scope and it already had the DonnyFL adjuster installed. It is shooting the 18 gr JSB at 940 fps and the 16 gr Hades at 1020 fps.

Tonight I only shot the 18 as that is what I will be using in it from now on. Also , I just received an order of the Varmit Knocker 22.5 gr slugs and they do shoot ok in it at a max fps of 875 but I just prefer the 18 gr JSB as they do the job for me.

It wasn't the best conditions with a light wind that would gust every little bit, probably between 5-10 mph. I shot the gun with the front on a bag and the rear supported only by my shoulder . My heartbeat really showed up at the longer distances.

Shooting started at 10 yards and went to 80 on paper then I shot various yardage out to 120 or so just to plot my aim points on my reticle. I know this target isn't super impressive for some of you but considering the shooting circumstances I was pretty happy with it. Basically all longer groups are right at a quarter size and closer groups well under a dime.

The more I shoot this Veteran the more I like it.

I found the best accuracy with the 18s to be at 905fps. And another thing that really helped me was adding a bubble level to the scope. Just because of the way you have to kinda kink you head to get a good alignment on the scope. Especially in hunting situations when you don't always have the best rest. Really helped me out at long range!

Regardless of what others think of your results, I give you credit for posting legitimate pictures of multiple groups under realistic conditions. If more people posted actual results instead of a single miracle group some of these discussions would be a lot more valid. Your guns a shooter...Taipans fly under the radar a bit but anyone who owns one (I do) knows how good they are.

Thanks for recognizing that fact. I dont get to shoot as much as I want to so when I get a few minutes I try and get in some shooting. Like I stated , some may not think much of the groups but they are realistic, shot in a light wind, front on bag and rear on shoulder. So not the most solid but that's how I shoot most of the time. Really wasn't trying to shoot smallest groups possible but just plotting out my scopes reticle as it's not in Strelock.
