I made the mistake of not buying one of these when they were actually available on the market. I know I had it in my cart a couple different times and never pulled the trigger. I’ve been making up for lost time. My third should be arriving any day. I have one extra now that’s going to a friend. So I will have two, one and 17 and one in 22.
I’ve done numerous posts shooting this rifle at distances out to 100 yards with great accuracy. Now I needed to give it a field test!
The trifecta started with the best shot of the three. Red squirrels this time of year don’t stop running. I spotted this one out my office window, and started running for the door, grabbing the Sig on my way.
He was doing the tree to tree thing. Yes there are all kinds of leaves now. I got myself about 10 feet ahead of him picked a spot, and right before he got to the spot, I made a kissing sound. He hesitated for a split second right there, I whacked him off hand hard. Penny actually beat him to the ground he was about 30 feet up in a tree. And we could both hear the thump when the pellet hit. She was off in an instant. It fell right next to her and she grabbed it by the head and brought it to me…wow.
Look at the devastation caused by the 177CP. The entrance wound was right by the arm, and actually caught a piece of the arm on the way through. There was blood everywhere. You can see the exit wound.
The following two are chipmunks. The first was off hand at about 15 yards. Right in the 👁
The next was offhand at 31 yards, which on a chipmunk is not so easy. That was a Center body shot. He flipped up and crawled 4 feet into the brush, Penny found him.
these are kick ass rifles!
All three were DRT first shot kills. If you’re wondering what happened after that, I blew one right over the head of a chipmunk at about 10 yards. My streak with ended.
I shot this group walking back from the last kill. Five shots at 31 yards off hand right into the head.
