Test Pellets for FT?

Pew

For your Thomas, I believe Mike has designed it to work best with the 13.4 gr JSB Monsters for the 20 foot pound class. Mine will shoot the 10.3 grain fairly well but not near as good as the 13.4 gr.

I was also given a separate jet to use if I wanted to try the 12 foot pound class, but have never tried it. I believe he recommends the 8.4 gr JSB's when using the 12 ft pound jet.

Are you needing an assortment for another gun?

That being said Straight Shooters has a nice pellet sampler

Pyramyd Air has some sampler packs as well.

Also....I bought a couple of sleeves of the 13.4 gr Monsters from Mike when I bought my Thomas at a pretty decent price.

Back when I was shooting FT, most of the guys in our club shot JSB or Air Arms pellets. I couldn't tell much difference in the JSB & Air Arms 10.3gr pellets back when I was shooting them in my Marauder , or Air Arms S500, or my Cricket? Seems JSB would always win out in my mind anyway?

A lot of the old timers would stick with the brown box crosman pellets too? Of course they had a healthy cleaning and sorting regimen ;-)

I never had any luck with the Crosman pellets until just recently with my .22 cal. Daystate Wolverine.

After I posted this question, Mike answered my email and told me what you said, but he specified 8.44 for the 12FPE class.

I would also like to find test pellets for 10m air pistol. I have 2 Steyr LP10s that were previously owned by much better shooters than me. For one of them, the previous owner told me which pellets it liked. The other one I got from a dealer, and I have just been using the same pellets with it. I don’t shoot well enough for it to matter though. Maybe one day.

Yes the 8.44 gr at 12 FPE

Did he mention head size? Mine does better with 4.53mm Monsters so I assume the 4.53 mm 8.44 gr would be the best for 12 FPE?

I tried the JSB Match Premiums 8.44 domed and didn't have any luck in several guns? They were a completely different design than the regular Exacts? They were shorter in length but still weighed 8.44 gr? I was hoping they would be like a sorted pack of the Exacts but they weren't?

I can't help ya with the pistols. I think the 10 meter shooters use wadcutters instead of domed pellets to make cleaner holes in the target paper? Never had any luck with wadcutters myself.

Mike did not specify head size. One vendor lists the smaller head size as 8.4 gr and the larger as 8.44, so I thought Mike intended the larger one, but IDK.

On the jsb premiums, do they sort for consistency within each box, but one box is not consistent with another box? Or are all the boxes consistent with one another?

For the monsters, there seem to be a couple of options. One is “redesigned” for “improved accuracy.” Some vendors seem to only have the “redesigned” one. Is the other one not being produced anymore?

Mine doesn't do as well the Redesigned Monsters. I hope they keep making the original Monsters? But as far as I know they still make the originals.

I didn't spend much time with the jsb premiums once I found they didn't do well in my guns, so I don't know about their consistency? Had some other FT friends that said they didn't have any luck with them either?

Most of us just call the 8.44 gr 8.4 for shortened wording

I probably buy the majority of my pellets from Pyramyd Air. Hard to beat their deal of "buy 3 tins and get the 4th one free", and then add a 10% off coupon on top of that. Also free shipping if you buy over $150 worth

My last pellet order from Pyramyd I ordered 6 tins of the 200 count 25.39 gr .22 Cal Monsters and got 2 tins free for a total of 8 tins.

Total came to $72.74 with the $7.99 shipping and minus $7.19 with the 10% discount coupon.

So that's like $9.09 per tin when they were listed at $11.99 each. Pretty good discount and dang hard to beat any where else.
