I bought a pellet/rimfire trap about 5 years ago, its been outside pretty much since I bought it. Thought id share it with you guys/girls because it has shown no real signs of rust or wear. I have shot it with 10s of thousands of pellets from .177-.30 cal at distances as close as 25yards out to 70. the only thing I have damaged was the clip that holds the target/paper. When it gets full I just dump it into a 5 gallon bucket to discard at my local hazardous waste site.

Looks great, the only thing I would suggest is instead of dumping the lead put up a post offering it to a reloader near you.

Its not quiet lol but its not to bad, maybe because of the angle of the back of the trap or ...I'm getting older and harder of hearing 
. I might look into someone who might need the spent lead, thanks for the suggestion. BTW Pyramyd's got them for 60 bucks.

[I think I grabbed it from a private seller on Amazon]
It's in my house, and I was using it for a bit when testing .25 cal pellets..
1, mine causes pellets to explode all over the place..
2, there's an open section at the lower back, so fragments direct down and out of it..
3, it's loud when hit [keep in mind I used it indoors]
They're built like tanks though - Highly recommended!

Maybe it could be modified with semi truck mud flaps or stall mat material from the farm store.

If you glued something/rubber on the outside of it might dampin the sound a bit. Theres a lot of open space where I shoot at it so noise isn't a factor for me. You definitely know your hitting it.

It definitely chews up some lead, I get some shrapnel on my targets from time to time but no opening on the bottom of mine other than a tight seam where water can escape between the weld joints. just like you say its built like a tank. Im just surprised living in S.Florida with all the humidity and rain it has held up so well.

I'd bet one of your local fishermen would scarf that lead up for sinkers ! It would make a good anchor also for a kayak also . Plus scrappers would buy it around here.

I picked up one of those traps used at a yard sale. I keep it in by basement for getting scopes/guns on paper. 10 yards is the max distance. But it works nicely.

you could melt the lead into ingots and sell it on the market to fishermen making sinkers or lead cast bullet guys.
