I have an opportunity to shoot my pcp rifles at targets in front of a pile of concrete. will I get any ricochet? If so will the lead pellets only travel a short distance. I will be shooting 50 yds. thanks in advance!
I doubt you will ricochets if the concrete is 90 degrees to you, but you may get lead fragments in the area from the pellets impacting the concrete. The higher the power the higher the possibility. Maybe hang some thick rubber sheets 6"/12" in front of the concrete.
Short answer yes. But how far will it ricochet? Lead will splatter if shot strait into hard object going all directions. Or glance off at an angle to flat surface. It is best to have your backstop at an angle towards the ground 45 deg. so pellets are deflected towards the ground. You will (probably) be safe at 50 yards but you got to account for everything in area that you don’t want hit by ricochet. Better safe than sorry. Hope this helps MM
I would do what I could to trap the lead. No sense in contaminating the surrounding area. There is a reason they banned lead paint, lead soldier on water pipes and so on.
