This may be a dumb question but..So I had bought a new 6.8l tank from acecare a few months back. I wanted the duel gauges but ordered the wrong one. So I just bought a new tank valve that has 2 gauges. What is the best way to empty the tank to switch out the valves? Just open the valve and let it drain out?

Yep, just crack the valve a bit. As pressure drops the seat might reseal the orifice and you may need to crack it open a bit more. Just monitor it here and there for about two hours.

I had started draining it slow. Then after a little while I opened the valve a little too much and it looked like frost on the end of the hose. Closed it a little and then let it empty slowly. Went back and checked it after a couple of hours and its now empty. I’m going to swap the valve tomorrow.

The frost on the outside of valve isn’t a big deal. That’s the result of adibatic cooling (a gas going from a high pressure to a low pressure). The inside of the tank does not see any frost if you have dry air in it. The frost on the outside is just from the humidity in the air condensing on the valve, then freezing.
