Tank or compressor for 530cc?

You will get a very limited number of full fills even from a large Cu Ft tank for your 530cc gun bottle like one or six depending on the fill pressure of your gun. If you are trying to fill from a 100cu in tank you will may get one or no full fills depending once again on the max tank pressure of your gun bottle. Then you will get some partial fills afterwards.

So the tank or compressor option depends on the number of shots you intend to shoot every week. If you are at 500 to 750 with the large tank you are probly OK. If you are planning on shooting much more than that you would likely be better off with a compressor. Or like me me get the tank and try it out for awhile and when you find you want to shoot more get a compressor. Like Steve recommends below and probly the best answer for many. If you want the compressor to last get a Yong Heng as they are inexpensive and more durable.

I have a number of PCP air rifles. I have a 66 cu.ft. SCBA tank and two Air Venturi 4500 HPA compressors (a small portable one just for topping off one PCP gun and a larger one compressor for topping off the tank).

Here are pics of my compressors, on top, my Nomad II portable and the other is my larger compressor. Both work fine. The Nomad can be powered by an auto battery in the field.

Like you, I live very near an air source for my 90 cu/ft tank and recently purchased an inexpensive electric compressor for back-up. I definitely use the tank the most as it's just so easy to connect and fill, 30 seconds and my 480cc PCP is topped off. I always put my compressor away so it is more time consuming but not a big deal. With your .30 cal air usage might gobble the air if you are target shooting but if you're hunting mostly, then no worries for air usage then just a tank for now.
