Tank Armor - Suggestions and or recommendations?

I have a nice carbon tank that I bought at AOA. Unfortunately, I haven't found any protective armor that I like and fits well. Any recommendations?

I would contact Joe Brancato @ Air Tanks for Sale as he sells protective armor for all of his carbon fiber tanks and, just today, I went to his shop to have armor and dual gauge set-up put on a friends guppy tank. I have the 72cu/ft Tiger Shark (below) from him. 714-907-0067 [email protected]

That's probably the nicest tank set-up I've seen. Thanks for the tips.

I've been lugging around my tank and every scratch or ding on it came from careless dive shops during air fills.

I finally got so fed up, I built my own air refill station but neglected to buy any tank armor. It's next on the list.

I made my tank armor using screen porch screen, kitchen shelf liner, handle straps purchased from PA, and feet I made from 2x4s and all thread. Worked out great!

I use a thin yoga mat cut to size around the tank and then pull two thigh supports (yes you read that right) over the tank from each end to keep it all in place. Put neoprene with foam backing to protect the gauge glass as well and carry handle from dive store then strap it to my home made tank carrier.

Yes, it has feet for laying on its side and one at the base so it can stand straight up. Or, like the others above have made their own custom stands that are very nice!

You "made them?" Seriously... you need to be selling those!

A "full armor package" means you just emptied your wallet. Loren sells high quality custom tank bags that are worth the money instead of just selling tank boots, scuba straps,and nets at 400% markup.

Here's a 6.8L tank protection package put together for $25 total cost. The priciest item was $15 for the tank carry strap. It is easy to make a cradle out of wood, dowel rod, zip ties, and bungee cord straps. A single layer of waffled rubber shelf liner cushions the tank around each end. A pair of $2 knit ski caps are pulled over the liner and hand stitched together at the center of the tank. There is a small hole cut out of one cap for the tank valve. It's lightweight and fully protects the clear tank coating from damage and unsightly white crush marks. If your tank is filled at a commercial shop, don't the caps together because the tank label needs to be seen for inspections and hydro testing.
