Ok, I've been through 100 or so pellets today trying to get a good tune. those with more brain cells than I, advice please ?

Rig is a .25 Veteran Standard - ER mods, both the air valve and dual air transfer ports are max ported out and polished - two of ER Power Plenums installed, Heavy Hammer Spring and a Huma regulator with the setting maxed out to 170. Start tank fill is 250 Bar. Shooting Griffin 42gr BT/HP LDC, averaging around 860fps at a 20 shot string before it starts dropping off -- 850-860 was right at the knee. -- Does this sound about right?

Side note: waiting for a slug barrel from AirGunHeaven.NL - things been stuck in customs for over a month now :-( And checked back with the CZ factory for a spared parts order - they mentioned that they're are working on a .25cal 700mm Long (CZ) barrel for the Taipan so fingers crossed there.

Also for all the Slug shooters that want to try Griffin BT's - the Taipan magazine will accept the BT/HP up to 48gr - 50gr will squeeze in there but are just a tad bit long - as for the BT/HP LDC's the 42gr are about as long as will fit the magazine w/o jamming issues - 44gr, like the 50s HP's will work but occasionally jam. I found out the hard way so have a few 100 Griffins I cant use.....gotta love it.

Anyway, appreciate any feedback -- I'm still learning my way around this thing.

Update....Taipan Veteran .25. Received my Airgun Heaven 700mm barrel - no amount of tuning. re-crowning, pellet - slug, type bullet or weight could make this barrel a consistent shooter. Replaced that with a 24inch LW Polygonal barrel, now this barrel is a tack driver. Shooting dimes at 50yrds now with Griffin 42gr LDC HP BTs. Need to find time to test out to 100 and see if i can get it out to 200. Replaced the oem barrel shroud with a shroud off a Veteran Long, Modd'ed the baffles and now, with the STO moderator this thing is extremely quite. Hacked up & refinished my laminated stock and added an old school Morgan adjustable butt plate. Need to do more chrony and fine tune a bit more but Love shooting this gun more every day. Few DonnyFL's and Lots of Griffin & few H&N and AVS slugs going on ebay here shortly.

Now the .22 Shorty. The CZ barrel is amazing with pellets and some slugs but being a chocked barrel its limited in the selection of slugs and weight it'll shoot effectively. Will be replacing the CZ with a Poly barrel here shortly - extend the barrel length from 13inch to 15 or 16 inches - mod the shroud & baffles to keep the overall length same as oem.

Where'd you source the 15mm Lothar polys?

Or...

Machine out the scope towers to accommodate 16mm?

Started with a 16mm and had it turned down for entire length?

When I had my Long rebarelled we couldn't find any 15mm OD polygonal LW blanks and had to go with a 15mm traditionally rifled LW. The .22 polys were 16mm OD as least from LWUSA.

I understand some of the Daystates use 15mm OD polys (Red Wolf I believe) and the same question comes to mind, except I figure Daystate might have enough buying power and volume to get LW to supply them 15mm barrels.

I purchased my barrel directly from LW - then had it machined down. Opted to not hone the scope towers just in case i want to go back to the oem CZ barrel. Ref. the bed liner stock mod, it looks great but i still prefer the natural look - now re-shaping that front end of the stock is a maybe but not sure i wanna risk screwing it up.

Thanks for the clarification.

I've heard about bores opening up when the OD is removed like that. Doesn't sound like it was a problem on your gun though.

Awesome build, thanks for sharing.
