I'm pretty sure it will overlap the rotating dust cover, which would be messy. Personally, I don't like attaching anything to an air cylinder. I put a short pic rail on the forend, easy job and very solid.
 
The air tubes on my Veteran Shorties are 36mm.

I'm pretty sure all vet air tubes are the same dia.

Not that you have to mill your stock and inlet an Anschutz rail like I did.

Just saying you can use a threaded aluminum plate to screw into.
