Taipan Veteran barrel cleaning

Every barrel is going to be different. I always wait until I notice the accuracy falling off. Some guns may need to be cleaned every couple hundred rounds, some every couple thousand. It all depends on how smooth the bore is. They usually get better with time though.

Absolutely correct on variations. Which is why I like to find pellet of choice, load in breech end & push through with cleaning rod to feel for tight spots, loose spots, gauge my choke. If need be a hand polish will allow less cleaning though you may drive yourself crazy as I’ve seen guns that shoot great until cleaned. They need to lead up again. Also when specifically testing on a bench rest I like to clean in between different pellets as the purity of lead varies and so called galling can be misleading on preference of barrels favorite.

Ah, just shoot it a lot & see. It’ll break in.
