Taipan Veteran. 22 question

A lot. I don't know my maximum, nor do I know where the reg is set (I think around 120). I've seen 960 fps with the JSB 18. That was hotter than I wanted, so I went the other way, stopped at around 900. I'm not a tech, but my assumption, the big dual TP gives these rifles a wide range of tuning using only HST. Being a cylinder gun of only 292 cc capacity, shot count is not its strong point, maybe 75-80. But, everything else is so good I find that easy to overlook.

My Taipan Veteran Standard .22 caliber maxes-out at 875 FPS/43 FPE with the JSB 25.4 grain pellets. This ammo has become my go-to in my .22 cal Vet because of the supreme accuracy, which surpasses that of the JSB 18.1 gr., the 15.89 gr JSB Hades and the FX Hybrid 22 gr. slugs.

For more power and velocity, the Taipan Vet. .22 caliber Long may be the way to go.

At one point I was enamored of the mid to large-bore bullpups. I am now finding my way back to the small-bore guns.

This Taipan Veteran Standard .177 caliber pushing JSB 16.2 grain pellets at ~850 FPS -- 26 FPE provides all the energy needed for the squirrels invading my 40-45 fenced

Great thanks.I am interested if i it is possible to shoot 25 gr pellet or slug at around 900 fps.I think this 75-80 shoots it's actually very good shotcount.I get less then that with my vulcan 2 .22 with hades at about the same speed 300cc cylinder.

Yours is standard model?

Yes, mine is the standard. Also, please bear in mind, my estimate of 75-80 shot count is just that, an estimate. I have not done an accurate count. I have not tried the 25 grain, since the 18 gives me superb accuracy, and plenty of power for the occasional squirrel. But, in general, the Veteran is an extremely versatile rifle. Being a stubby bull pup, it is not as easy to shoot as many longer rifles,

Here is shot string I did recently.

80 Shots all above 30fpe. excellent accuracy through out.

Here is the string:

Thanks 2manyAirgunz.This laminate.177 looks amazing. This is great news that 25 gr shoots so good is it the most accurate also at longer ranges with those pellets? And are they redesigned or regular ones?

Regards Marko

They .22 caliber 25.4 grain pellets are the Redesigned. They are stable out to 60 -75 yards. I imagine with greater velocity the stability would hold up for greater distances.

With my Veteran long .22 I can get 80 shots at 940+- with 18 gr JSB. I have 8 mags so it works out good.

I also had good luck with the 25 gr JSB accuracy wise but I cant recall what speed but I think around 890 or so. I do not know my reg setting either as I bought it used about a year ago and haven't had to do anything to it except adjust the trigger to my liking. I get all the adjustment I need with the Donnyfl hst adjuster.

I also briefly tried some VK 22.5 gr slugs and they were ok but I decided to stick with pellets.

The Veteran long can shoot the 25.43 gr. Monster redesigns at 900+ but requires a slightly stronger hammer spring to do so. I believe the stock hammer spring maxes out at about 875-880 before the gun stops cocking. Shot count is also reasonable. When I first got the gun I had it tuned to shoot the 25.43 at 867 fps. It got 60 regulated shots on a 250 BAR fill down to 120 BAR. Higher power obviously drops the shot count but I haven't ever dropped below 40 shots per fill.

According to my magnetospeed chrono, the max I can push the 25 grain RD monsters in my Taipan Veteran Long is 860 fps before it stops cocking. Shoots the 18 grain JSB's at ~1000 fps.

That's with the stock spring. Waiting on a Talon Tunes "power spring" to show up, which supposedly adds ~80-120 fps. I'll measure it with the magnetospeed when it comes in.

I buy the veteran long for the specific intent to shoot the 25g redesigned but at max power it doesn't have the accuracy I want it it was great wit the 18g or20 n 21g NSA but that wasn't the reason I buy the gun I could shoot that with the cricket compact there's is no point for me to carry such a heavy bullpub to shoot 18g ...but at that time there were no plenums so maybe with the plenum n some tuning on the reg you could move the redesigned at 950..
