Taipan Veteran .22 700mm CZ Recommended Ammo/Tunes?

I bought a 700mm CZ barrel for my Vet Long .22 a couple years ago in hopes of having an effective 100yd rig. I am open to shooting either pellets or slugs. However I am hand-pumping so 40+ fpe slammer setups are out of the question for now.

So far I haven’t had great luck getting slugs to group, fine. JSB 18.1s are good but groups open up past 50 (3-6” groups at 100yd). I eventually found JSB 15.9 @ 900 fps to be the most accurate tune, but again I’m seeing groups open up past 50 (3-6” at 100yd).

So, since the 700mm barrel has been out for a while, I was hoping some of you could chime in with your best tune/ammo settings for long range accuracy.

(Setup also has power plenum and huma reg)

I've been on a journey in the last year or so doing exactly what you are. "Sniper" has two power plenums, huma reg, HST speed dialer, 700mm CZ barrel, custom barrel tensioner, Sekhmet digital gauge, and a KOI moderator.

I've settled on .22 FX Hybrid slugs at 985 fps. The regulator is set to 135 bar and will push the Hybrids to a max velocity of 1060 of so at max HST. Oh, by the way, I also put a nylon washer behind the hammer spring to give it a little more power.

By design the Taipans aren't really made for big power. The efficient valve and 250 bar fill lend themselves to being happiest in the mid power range, IMO. I've pushed it over 50 fpe with the NSA 24.8 grain slugs but it wasn't the happiest. Speaking of NSA slugs, "Sniper" shot the .216 and .2165 diameters pretty well but not great...not as well as it shoots the Hybrid's for sure. My theory with the Hybrids is that the semi-hollow design allows them to conform more easily to the choke of these CZ barrels.

Considering that it can do dimes all day at 50 meters and is putting out over 47 fpe at the muzzle I'm quite happy with the union of "Sniper" and Hybrids. I've smacked a boatload of starlings and grackles out to around 100 meters with good success.
