Taipan Taipan Slash first tuning report.

Here's my Slash shot string from a few days ago that I would like to share..... I'm very pleased with it.

Taipan Slash Tactical Compact .22
  • Fill Range: 290 bar - 170 bar
  • Reg Setting: 165 bar
  • Pellets: AEA 25.3
  • FPE: 50.5
  • Total Shots: 58
  • ES: 28
  • SD: 5.1
A couple of notes:
  • Notice that shot's 1 and 37 are a little higher.
  • I have three 12-round pellet magazines, so must reload after shot 36 which takes 4-5 minutes.
  • Removing those two 'first' shots would lower ES and SD a bit.

Accuracy is excellent with this semi-auto. I was able to hit my 90 yard 1" target 7 times in a row from a bench... best I've ever done with any PCP including my excellent Huben K1's.

The superb Taipan trigger, plus being able to keep my eye on the target without movement or cock between shots is the key I think.

will you make video on youtube please?

I've been watching the videos put out by Taipan and everyone of them says to degass the gun before making any adjustments, but they never remove the air tank! Does this air tank NOT have a valve in it? Can it be removed and hot swapped while under pressure? Seems to me it can't which seems odd. With only a 300cc tank, it would be nice if it could be swapped with a full tank when on gets below reg pressure to save having to have a large tank or portable compressor in the field.

I don't think you can. But, I've just emailed Marek Děngl who owns/runs Taipan and Balistas with this question.

There isn't a valve and almost no room for one either as they have the bottle almost touching in the front. Also the bottle has no room to be unscrewed unless the air has been let out of the rifle as the butt stock that it attaches to has to be rotated to allow the bottle to be unscrewed. This can only rotate without air.

Marek got back to me and the Slash 300cc air cylinder cannot be hot swapped and does not have an adapter.

Hi,
for now we havent it.
Just now we have just small part which can install on place of bottle and connect with scuba bottle. It is good for shooting from table.
We are working on some solution for bigger bottle or possible swap bottles under pressure.
