I own both the Taipan Mutant Shorty .22 and the Lelya 2.0 in .25 caliber. The Mutant has the better trigger and the magazine system and cocking effort is smooth and precise. Both are compact and hard to shoot off sticks or bench due to lack of real estate in the foregrip area. That being said, they're both worth it.
The advantage of the better trigger, cocking effort, and overall magazine system goes to the Taipan.
The EDgun Lelya excels in ease of maintenance by the end user with minimal tools, superior support from Ed and the EDgun community including complete disassembly, complete parts manual for easy replacement of anything you'd need, and just rugged build quality.
Accuracy is even between the two. CZ barrel on the Taipan is superb. LW barrel on the Lelya is fantastic.
Build quality is a bit better on the EDgun just because the barrel isn't exposed and the overall construction feels better in the hand. That being said, both guns have been trouble-free.
So the question you should be asking: do I mind rear cocking or do I NEED a forward cocking lever? Do I plan on tinkering with the gun or servicing the gun myself or do I plan on shipping it out to an expert tuner?
You can't go wrong with either one. If price is the main limiting factor, then the Taipan wins hands down. Hope this helps!
