Taipan Mutant Trigger Problems!!

Hi my mutant has trigger woes!! when I cock the rifle I have no 1st stage travel and a hair trigger which is frightening!
when not cocked have 1st stage travel but when I cock it you can see 2nd stage lever is tight on 1st stage lever eliminating 1st stage travel causing me to have an hair trigger which is soo light!

Target shooters usually prefer triggers like that. I don't always love super light triggers as they can be easy to fire by accident on some guns but... the Mutant is so light that a lighter trigger with less travel is preferable imo. I think you might find it harder to group well if you introduce a heavier pull with more travel. It just doesn't have the weight up front to hold it steady.
