Pretty much decided this will be my next buy. Been doing some reading. Apparently there was a batch of bad barrels in the past. Would I be better served buying new? And if so, Utah or Georgia? Or saving a few bucks buying used if the barrel problem, ain’t a problem? Looking for one in excellent condition. Thanks for looking in and your help!

Not sure. Guess I should have been paying attention to the dates on the posts. Theoretically, even if a few years back, those Taipans may still be in people's hands. Or not? Maybe I'm concerned about something I shouldn't be. Own a couple Wildcats, and they're both down till they can be taken care of. Just wanting a platform I can shoot for awhile before repairs are needed.

I remember a few guys complaining. It was in the timeframe when they just started putting a LW barrel on the .22’s. Guys were posting WTB adds for specifically CZ barrel models. I don’t believe the accuracy issues were with the 22’s. I think it was just the 25’s. But like everything on the internet, you always have to consider the source. Could just be a meat head.

I may be mistaken but I believe the problem was rectified long before the Veteran came out. If you can find a good used one, go for it. I bought mine used in excellent condition and saved about $300.

First run of .22 short..weren't even lw.. one of the importers in order to save money was bringing them without barrels and installing Chinese barrels that end shooting like crap..no names that was long time ago..but he still in the game..

yes i do remember that happening ,then after all the criticism ,he went ahead and was replacing with C ZUB barrels ...GOTTA love them barrels

I just bought a .25 compact from Charlie at Georgia Airguns and couldn’t be happier. Charlie does some extra things that you can’t get anywhere else. He does a seven step accurizing process to the barrel. He lets it sit for two days to make sure it doesn’t leak. You get a lifetime reseal warranty from him. He shoots about 8 different pellets and finds which one your Taipan likes the best. He will give you a test sheet with 6 of the best shooting pellets groups on it. You can request that he try a specific pellet and he will if he has them on hand. I asked him to try Hades, he did and it shot pretty good but was an absolute laser with FX 25.4. He will also sell you pellets at a reasonable price if you purchase a gun from him. He doesn’t just sell pellets, he does everything by himself and stays to busy for pellet orders only. Here are some pics of my new addition along with three 50 yard five shot groups. I adjusted the scope about 2 clicks left for the last group that is centered.This was with a 1-4x24 scope. I probably could have done a little better with higher magnification.

I get about the same groups but at a shorter distance using my 1-4x20 (1" LPVO with a 100-yard parallax).
I kinda find it odd that people always complain about the parallax on LPVO scopes.
Of course, the phenomenon is present, but I find I minimal and it does not bother me.
