Tacticam FTS 5.0

I bought one about a month ago. Like so many things, I have to get one, and then don't use it when I receive it!

But today a new shooter friend of ours was over, and after she did so well popping Mini Charm Pops at 25 yards, I figured I would try to set up the Tactacam for her to have a 'souvenir' of her shooting.

This was a real quick-and-dirty cam set-up and video edit (Davinci Resolve). And then lost resolution when uploaded to YouTube. In edit I zoomed in around 2x to remove some of the 'shooting through a tunnel' appearance of the video (and thereby lost some of the original 4k resolution). No color correction was performed, and by the time we took the vid the targets were pretty much in the shade. She didn't have any issues using the scope once the camera was mounted onto it.

I'm sure that the system can do better, this was a quick first use of it by me. I didn't even take the time to focus the ocular lens on the reticle when setting up.

I think it will be a good unit when I get more experience with it. Good flexibility in mounting to various diameter scopes, and generally easy to use. Used WIFI connection to my phone to start/stop the video. It definitely got the job done today, even with zero experience using it.

Thank you guys. That video was very helpful. So basically, this was first time using it, and uploading video? I'd say, well done. And great shooting as well.

Thanks.

I also made her shoot all of the remaining sticks from the same distance (25 yards). 2 or more 'targets' out of each Pop! Darned good for a new shooter, who has shot air guns only once before at my backyard range, and she was shooting a Pulsar that time. This time she was using my Crown field gun (.25 cal with 380mm barrel), and I will admit that this Crown is very easy to shoot accurately! Likely the first gun where I have achieved 'harmonic tune.'

I recently got one also and have been practicing with it only a little due to cold weather. My only complaint so far is my lack of knowledge in filming technology. There are so many options to record that it is confusing. It will take a weeks worth of trial this spring to get what I want. But the quality is good so far. If you take some time and write it different ways youtube has a quite a few videos explaining how to set it up and how to use it for low light conditions or slo mo.

@TMH New? “New” meaning “new to airguns?” Or are you saying that she is a new friend who’s an experienced shooter? She can shoot! Where’d you mount the cam? I looked it up and saw several mounting options. Since the reticle shows in the vid I’m thinking it was mounted between the shooter’s eye and the lens but considering the length of the cam I can’t make sense of that setup. Also, have you filmed anything at night with it?

Old friend, but only the second time she has ever shot air guns. Maybe has shot powder burners a couple of times as well some years back, when she comes down from the Bay Area to visit us.

Here is the configuration of the gun as she was shooting it yesterday (off a Caldwell Stable Table):

Yesterday was the first time I used the Tactacam, and it was later in the afternoon with the sun around 10:00 to the targets.

For night filming I'm going to use this instead:

I bought a kit directly from Tactacam which at the time (late last year) they called the 'Ultimate Gun Hunter'. It came with the scope mount you see on my Crown, which they call the 'FTS'.

The whole package included Tactacam 5.0, FTS, Dual Battery Charger, Micro SD card and second battery, and was available for $450 with free shipping (maybe a holiday deal).

I don't see that specific package on the Tactacam web site any more.
