Tactacam FTS or side shot w/phone

If you had to choose, which one?

I've had a side shot and sed my phone but I didn't like the fact I had to take my phone in and out of the mount. I now have my old phone that can use SD cards and wifi/BT I could leave mounted. This option would save me money with the father's day deal.

Other option I'm considering is the FTS. What would be my pros and cons? I think the FTS is smaller, and would be easier to swap between guns if needed.

Tactacam FTS because once I got one I didn’t desire to look for anything beyond it. It took some fiddling with and experimenting with settings to get it working how I wanted.

Edit: Couple of links that may be somewhat relevant

Eagle. Eagle Visione had a decent looking setup that worked with older GoPros. I don’t know why it wasn’t upgraded beyond (I think a GoPro Hero 7 or 8). I think I recently saw one of those types of setups in the “Classifieds” today or yesterday.

I picked up a megaorei m4a for NV and recording, but the digital screen and my eyes don't play well. I have to wear my cheaters to get any kind of clarity vs just looking through my clear scope like with the SS or FTS. I really like the tactacams too. I don't need the NV, it was just a bonus. I'd love a zulus or something like that, but out of my price range for my needs.

I'm just not digging this clip on style setup, and I had the wraith hd 4-32x50 which was like a brick sitting on top of my fun. Couldn't focus down low or get a good zoom either.

Biggest issue I have had with these options is finding a camera where I can see through the scope clearly and on camera clearly (same focus). I have had issues where getting one to work doesn’t allow the other to work. That is what I hated when I tried a Tactacam. Some people’s eyesight must be better. I couldn’t get it to work for me.

The one I could make work was the scopecam with GoPro with Eagle Vision lens. It allows for focusing the lens (in and out) to focus properly with eye relief needed to focus both camera and eye.

TACTACAM — once mounted and set-up, is a one-button operation.
Nice. Small footprint.

The company, though, seems to have shifted its interest toward other products (cf. their latest 6.0 camera that is clearly and unredeemably made so it would never fit a scope).
Therefore, I don't put much trust in their continued support of the 5.0 camera and the app. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I have a lousy feeling as their customer.... ☹️ — This is not the first time I went all in with a certain brand and their product — only to be left out in the rain a short while later.... 😖

I opted for the 20% off side shot deal for father's day. I will use my old Samsung S9 for the camera and editor, then just blutooth/wifi to my phone or laptop so I can upload. I had very good quality videos with that setup when I had it on my Akela. I will mount this as a dedicated setup on one of my rifles.

Still might pickup a tactacam fts setup, or possibly just get a zulus and sell my brand new clip on kit. Goldilocks syndrome at its finest!
