Has anyone run a Tactacam FTS on a compact scope Like a Hawke Airmax 30 Compact or Vector Veyron? If so, what sort of adjustments did you make in the mounting process?
Dave,
I'm using the Tactacam FTS on a Discovery VT-3 3-12x44 FFP (same as the Vector Veyron and the USO TS-12X) -- and a PP700.
Yes, compact scopes and Tactacam require some adjustments and ingenuity.![]()
I turned the FTS in a position that would allow the camera to go below the windage turret. However, the screws of the UTG dovetail-to-picatinny adapter rail still stuck out too far and interfered with the camera. So, I ground them down by 1/8". Yes, I did loose the magnification throw lever. Depending on your gun you might have to mount the scope a bit higher so that the camera will fit under the windage turret without interfering with the action or rail.
Hope you'll find a solution.
Matthias
I don't suppose it is necessary to orient the FTS "completely vertically." You can just turn the camera in its slot to righten the image (check live on the cellphone screen).
Your setup has the camera above the windage turret, and on the right side of the elevation turret. ➔ Maybe your setup works better if the camera was below the windage turret, completely away from the elevation turret. That's how mine is installed.....![]()
