Super cheap shooting aid

While this is not my original idea I’m posting up because its made a huge difference in my hit ratio whether plinking, pesting or target shooting. A simple zip tie with a piece of yarn attached. Tells me what the wind is doing at my shooting position. Won’t go pesting without it, I consider it an essential part of the rig.

I'd say half or more at FT shoots have something along the same lines. 99.5% of my shooting is at home and I'm either 25ft deep in my garage when pointing one direction or about 50 ft point the other so I use simple surveyors 'tape' on stings at the long end of both ranges. Neither judge the wind that matters most (in between) but its a big step above having nothing!

Thanks for the reminder, I need to replace both of those tapes!

I use a string with a small feather on the end tied to a zip tie.

I run a short piece of the green plastic table you tie up tomatoes with on the end. Very light and picks up the breeze great.
