..... shoot.......i just found out that duane sorensen passed away lately from a massive stroke. i worked for them refurbishing the handpumps and warehouse mgmt......i just got of the hosp myself for a two week ordeal , but this was sad for me. duane was the person that made it possible for a blue-collar guy to have a pcp airgun (benjamin discovery package) . yall remeber ' compasseco ' airgun company ? that was duane bringing in stuff from china. yall remeber all those $75 ak-47's that were not made at baikal in russia ? that was duane. before sun optics, he was drawing schematics and blueprint for the cnc machines here in ft.worth to make all sorts of mounts - b-square (remember them ? even made a mount for the daisy 717 / 777 pistols.) sun optics is now sold to a trigger outfit here around ft.worth. jim gekeler is retired and playing golf and the drums until he moves to almagordo, nm.......there's just too many people moving into the north texas area.......easy to sell a house here tho..... these two guys were the coolest people i have ever worked for. duane kept the handpump part for himself , which was the deal that kinda helped start sun optics. that's how i met them - i screwed up my benji pump. there was a younger fella that did the stuff i did (repair pumps) until i ended in the hospital from a badly infected dog bite (jim made me go in, but i had no idea how serious i was infected) . i have a few reseal kits and i have offered to rebuild them if need be....not sure how that is being handled now duane is gone and all the handpump stuff is at his house. duane had full military honors - 21 gun salute - the whole 9 yards at his funeral in nebraska where his large family has a 600 acre farm. he was an army 1st cav sniper, and pretty good long range shooter from what i understand.. ...i guess i wont be seeing them at the airgun show here in few weeks......shoot.... God-speed, duane. - paul douglas self. - rane air .
