Suggestions for a laser rangefinder ?

Hi all,



I am wondering if anyone here could please suggest a good, current model of laser-rangefinder suitable for airgun use ?



I don't need anything fancy, but just something that works reliably with typical airgun sized targets ( such as ground squirrels), and at typical airgun ranges ( around the 100 yard mark, and less). I know many have trouble with small targets ( especially on flat ground), but it can't hurt to ask. You never know if someone has already tested and figured this all out. ;^)

I’ve got one that has served me very well on several prairie dog hunts ranging their little heads at a hundred yards and beyond just sticking out of their mounds. It’s listed in the classifieds.

Archery models are good for airgunners too. We don't need to range crazy far.

I have a Leupold. Kinda pricey but it was a gift.

Looks like Simmons has one for around 65.00 goes up to around 700 yrds

I've got the same one Dave has for sale and it has worked great. Very little delay and is pretty clear. New for $179 at Wally world! Nikon aculon.

I second ChuckHunter. I have the Nikon Aculon and used it for Prairie Dogs last summer and this summer. I will say that when there is no back drop and out past 120 yards.

Thanks very much for the ideas. I have used alot of Nikon optics in the past, so I will definitely check out that Aculon. And I completely overlooked the idea of the rangefinders designed for archery hunting. The ranges can be similar, just the size of the target might make a difference...or not. At least now I have a good starting point.

If you shop around you can pick one of these quite reasonably. I have the Ranger 1300 and you cannot beat the warranty on these, too. It ranges through windows/screens etc.

I have a halo, an atn 1000. Halo is nice, paid 160 works great. Alot of bad reviews but has always worked great for me.
