STX barrel instead of ST for FX Impact

Calling the ST barrels crappy is a bit of a stretch, yeah shooting slugs will be better BC and better for long range most likely. But these have different demands than diabolo shaped pellets, heavier of course and probably more friction in the barrel as a slug has way more riding resistance in the barrel. They will need more power unless you're happy slinging them out at 650fps.

"Birdslayer25"Youll be able to sling a 23 grain slug well over a 1000 fps out of an impact just sayin. .25 grains slugs will def be up there too. Bored out transfer port hole with the new added length yeah itll be able to launch slugs prettt fast.
Yeah fair enough, when I think of slug I think of something with some heft. Sure I can shoot a 25.4 at 1000 too.

I could read that the standard ST barrels with .22 caliber are only 500 mm long. The .25 and .30 are 600 mm long. Seems now, that the new STX has 600 mm for .22 and 700 mm for the .25 and .30 caliber ???
However, I would also like to shoot piledrivers in .22 with more than 900 fps. If youre shooting 25,4 with approx. 1000 fps what kind of pressure do you set on your regulator ? I think its really not recommended to set the reg more than 150 bar … or you will get some leaking problems on the reg screw … (you will find explanation in youtube)
As Im an old shaky guy, Ive problems to hit a barn door in a distance of 20 yards with my impact and the standard ST barrel. Now I hope to hit it with the new STX barrel …

This is on a 600mm long ST barrel in a .25 Royale, That is with the reg at 158 or so and hammer spring basically maxed out, its tuned for the 33.95gr to shoot at or just over 900. But I understand you are talking about the 500mm long Impact barrels which I have no experience with.

"schoofsbock"No one of the dealers or whatever in good old europe is able to give me an answer about the details of the new STX barrels. However, FX tells something about february, so I think they mean february 2024 ...
I follow you, back in March when I ordered my Crown (received in November) I was told by Johan (the owner of FX) that the barrels will be available by the end of 2017. I think their full production is just going into new guns which are still in strong demand. I may just order the FX Impact in 22 (old style) than get the X barrel in 30 when it’s available, my question is will it also work on my Crown as well as the Impact. I know I would need different magazine and pellet probe but will the barrel and sleeve be interchangeable.
