Just wondering if a normal STX barrel can shoot slugs? I was thinking about ordering some NSA samples for my impact? No special liner, just a replacement barrel for the original smooth twist barrel.

I wouldn't bother without the slug liner, the normal liners are choked like the original ST which isn't a good slug barrel either. Amazing results with the slug liner in .22 so far! It also says on the NSA site not to use them in Smooth Twist or a non slug STX liner.

I checked out NSA site and only saw not to use them on the original ST barrels nothing about STX barrels that are rifled from end to end. But thanks for the info.

Yes, Slug liners, not pellet liners even if they are ST-X.
Straight from Matt Dubber (yes I contribute to him via Patreon) he advised me against shooting slugs in the ST-X liner.....said to wait for the Slug-X liner.
Also from FX, the Slug-X liner is design around the NSA slugs.

Guys are getting so confused over these FX barrel's! The STX barrel is the same as the original ST barrel only in a quick change liner form... still only has the twist at the end couple of inches. The slug liners will have the twist the full length of the liner...and supposedly be in different twist rates eventually.

Slug liners are not choked
And if you read on Nelson we sight they say nose only in slug liners

For sure they are unchoked or a less aggressive choke. And it makes sense they would have a faster twist rate for the reason Tomi stated.
UA should be getting the slug liners in by next week. As soon as I get my hands on one I will compare the twist rate to the ST-X pellet liner.....at least visually to confirm this.

Sorry to be late to the party but the slug liners are indeed choked. And I mean considerably. Ive actually slugged the liner and took a .217 slug and pushed thru down to a .2126 to .213. That is a serious choke for a slug. TR is 1:15.5 for my 600mm. And I believe it's made that way to marry with those swaged type bullet shapes with the pronounced noses leaving smaller bearing surfaces so that choke won't slow the bullet down too much but enough to help stabilize upon exit.

Another finding based on the initial post topic.
I have shot the 22 caliber .217 swage slugs 22.5 grainers thru the pellet liner wth my impact and in fact, with that particular slug, it was very accurate! I believe the slug liner agrees better eith the .218 size slugs. The .217s spiral noticeably but tries to hold it's POA as best as it can.

Yeah, i was told it can be a toss up from liner to liner. Sometimes it's the slug as well that may be a bit off. So many variables
