Brass?
This came along with a Crosman 1100 that I wanted as a package deal.
Didn't know I wanted a 761 XL until I opened the package.
Anything i need to know? Anybody got parts laying around they'd sell? I need some screws. I'll have to order seals. Pump cup is hard as rock.

Sorry I don't know anything about the 761 but I sure like that model 70! Seeing that makes me want to go find mine tomorrow and shoot it.

I had the 1100 but traded it off before I ever used it. Have had multiple of the model 70. Wish they would have made it a repeater and not had the plastic outer barrel. still fun.

That's funny right there.
Doesn't shoot at all yet. Apparently it shoots less than the length of the barrel. I can see a bb down there with a flashlight. Silly gun with horrible design. Not high on my list to repair. I just liked the Fieldmaster look.

I agree. Neat to look at but not a great design. Most of them seem to have the slide mechanism busted. Mine doesn't, and actually functions and shoots, but only about three feet.

Yea, mine feels good both directions when cocking. Started pulling her apart but quit when I saw the steel piece that goes up thru the barrel and holds the spring back. Couldn't get in there with all the silly parts in the way. Decided to shelf it for someday when I'm really bored or have insomnia.

I love the 1100's the 760 is a great looking rifle.

That's a nice example. I really like the stock with butt-plate. Yours should have a rifled barrel. Something that a lot of 760 owners find very desirable. BB velocities should be around 550-fps if everything is working correctly.

I found one at a swap-meet long ago, fixed it up and gave it to my younger brother because he likes shiny things. He eventually kludged it up with parts from another one he found at a swap-meet, then handed it back to me to fix once again. Gone were the gold receiver and rifled barrel... Then he handed me another victim of his lack of smithing-skill and I found it had the rifled barrel.

Accuracy with modern pellets wasn't nearly as good as I'd hoped for, but it did do surprisingly well with the old Crosman trash-can wadcutters.

Yes, the wood on the one Treefrog posted is beautiful.
The top left one on my pic is a "Sears" made by Crosman.

Thanks. I refinished it with stain and Tru-Oil. I was about twenty at the time. Mike Baker Airguns should have the screws that you need.

Funny you say that. I coveted my friends Blue Streak but was beyond my budget as a kid. Settled for the powermaster from a garage sale or something, can't remember. Good memories.

The Blue Book shows the 761XL was made from 1972-1981! First variant '72-78, second from 78-81
