What size screws are in the gamo scope rings the torn heads stripped out while I was installing my scope

i hate to say it but if you striped a screw hole start over unless you have the right size drill and tape to repair the hole
you are either Ham fisted or the rings are crap
the key was either a T20 or T25 i would guess

Wish manufacturers would make up their minds, always have to keep checking, Torx or Allen, when switching scopes. Torx don't last long if not paying attention and use an Allen key. WM

And quality Allen/Torx tools are important too.
Seems like even some name brands are NOT what they used to be!
Somewhere in this forum is a great thread on a few different brands of tools that really hold up well.
And like Rayroz already mentioned.....15 INCH pounds, is important!

most all rings i have ever gotten have their own tools and to strip and Torz head is far harder than i Allen

Sounds like it is the head that is stripped. Sometimes, you can tap in a small blade or larger torx driver, enough to gain some grip and turn it out. I've also had success with stuck screw removers. They are simply a left-hand type of driver bit, which will gain purchase when powered in revelse.

Some of the torx head screws are of poor quality and imperfect sizing, which is a stripped head waiting to happen. If the screws they send do not fit the driver perfectly, I'd try to find better quality replacements. That said, the ring screws do not need to be very tight. I expect that most of my PCP ring screws are not even at the recommended torque value.
