Straight Shooters

Way back when I first got into airgunning, my go to shop was "Straight Shooters." I had several very productive conversations on the phone with the owner and purchased my RWS Air King and my Air Arms S410 and a bunch of pellets as well, from him back in the early 2000's. Just wondering how many of ya'll did business with this guy? He recently retired and closed up his shop, too bad, because I'd do business with him any day. I would have liked to have met him in person.

My first internet bought quality airgun was an HW97K from Kevin at Straightshooters around Dec 1999?. Kevin and Craig? I think I have one name wrong.? ...Keith? My memory is fried. Had many conversations and bought a bunch of guns there. I still own a .25 Tomahawk deluxe and an R7 from them. I sometimes go to the Waybachmachine for information, past conversations, or just to look at old guns. So many old names there, it was Russ Best's favorite place to post for a while.

Bought my first 2 guns from them in 1997, a Beeman R7 in .177 and a Theoben SLR98 in .22. I remember it because I told my wife I bought 1 gun and got caught sneaking the 2nd into the basement after meeting the UPS man. It did not go well. Still married (43 years) but I never did it again. I never needed to in the first place but didn't know it then. They were in St Cloud, MN then Arkansas, Craig retired, Kevin kept it going some then retired also. Their Our Take mini- reviews were very helpful, and when I needed more they were a pleasure to talk to.

I did a lot of business with Kevin and Craig, they were great guys to buy from. I also bought from Lee Wilcox of Airgun Express back in the day, as well as Rick Willnecker and even a CO2 rifle from Dennis Quackenbush. I've pretty much bought something from all of the dealers back in the day. When Pyramyd Air was just starting out, I met Joshua Ungier at one of the Damascus MD airgun shows. He was a super nice guy to talk to. The airgun community used to be a lot smaller than what it is today.

Semi-clear plastic box with compartments. I still have one some where around here also.
Yes sir. I actually have one in .177 and one in .22, but one of them is missing quite a few pellets. Over the years, I've used it to send 'samples' out to folks to try in their own guns. Back then, I think we tried every pellet to find 'the' one. Nowadays, I'm lazy. If it doesnt shoot JSB's well, I tend to get rid of it..haha
