Hello All,

I am new to pcp air rifles and wanted to ask a stupid question. What is the ideal storage pressure for my Benjamin armada and marauder.

New out of the box both came charged to 1000 psi. I charged them to max fill pressure, 3000 psi to shoot. Can they be stored wit max fill press. or should they be left at less than that?

Thanks,

Dennis

Dennis, I do not think there is an ideal pressure for storage.

Me? I fill my Marauders and 1720T to 3000psi.

The rifles because at a glance I can see if they holding pressure all except the .177 which is regulated and the gauge reads 1500psi when it is above that level.

The 1720T is put in the closet so it is not easy to see the pressure.

The idea is to keep pressure on the o-rings.

They will need replacement but keeping them pressurized will extend that date..

Storage at full pressure might distort the seals a bit, make it harder to lift the poppet off the valve seat. At least thats what I thought back when precharged guns were just becoming commonly available. I personally never had a problem storing at or near full pressure. Keeping some pressure keeps the system closed up so no debris can find it's way in. And I suppose seal material might matter as soft seals would deform while harder seals wouldn't quite as much. Probably good to keep stored at less than max, say 1/2 of the full psi. Unless you keep it behind the door for spontaneious shots at varmints and pests.
