Still Looking

Hey Y’all- just wanted to say thanks again for the good advice you all shared. After much research and deliberation, I pulled the trigger this AM on a new Daystate Regal .177, unregulated. My fill station is 30 feet from where I shoot, so frequent top offs are no problem.

The fine folks at Precision Airguns & Supply gave me great customer service, checking stock on hand & sending pictures of stocks so I was able to choose a nice one.

Well, the wood lover in me got the best of me. I emailed Precision Airguns & Supplies over the weekend, asking If they would be willing to look through their current inventory and find me a 177 with a well figured stock.

Jim and Nancy were very accommodating @ PA&S, great folks to do business with!

And the delivery truck wait begins. Congratulations, should be a nice rig and Jim & Nacny are indeed great people to deal with (even if your too far away for their indoor range). Had a chance to meet Jim years ago at a Nationals event, hadn't even caught his name while sighting in next to him when he said "have you fired one of these? would you like to?" asked if I knew how to use it - 1st AA MFR's in the US- said I'll be over there if you run out of pellets or air and walked away. Super nice guy. Naturally you'll not need another airgun but thier used airguns are exactly as he say's and often a value.

Post up some groups & such.

Actually the wait won’t be that long- according to UPS, it’s scheduled for delivery tomorrow!

Now I just have to decide on an air source. I told my buddy to keep his scuba tank- it’s worthless for a gun that fills at 230bar.

Theres a local paintball outfit that sells tank plus filling rig with gauges, $300 with free refills...

gonna check them out!

You are gonna love that rifle. I own the .22 version and could not be more pleased. It’s a simple work of functional art. Congratulations now it’s finding the right pellets, enjoy the journey.

Well, I have quite a collection of Beeman, JSB, H&N, & RWS pellets in different weights- 7.0, 7.4, 8.0, 8.18, 8.2, 8.4, 8.64, 9.3, 9.7, 10.65 & 13.43 grain. I hope that’ll do for a start. I have Crosman pellets- for my kids to shoot from their IZH Baikal and Gamo springers, lol.

Congrats and good choice! I have a Huntsman Regal XL in .22cal in the non-regulated version and it's a shooter. With the LW barrel, it's not pellet finicky. Also, they're super easy to work on. Since yours is a .177cal., my suggestion is to try the JSB 10.34gr Heavy Diabolos and the JSB 8.44gr. Don't forget to try the rebranded JSBs' in the same pellet weights from Air Arms and FX. If you're trying different brand of pellets, make sure you lead them in. Sometimes it takes 20 to 40 shots through the barrel before your groups start tightening up. Have fun!

I’ll do some testing with what I have on hand and order more pellets based on what the rifle shows me- I’ll definitely keep those suggestions in mind when I order, if mine groups well with pellets I have on hand that are close to those weights- Thanks!

Got it- rifle arrived today (I ordered YESTERDAY!!!)

Its prettier in person. This rifle exudes quality craftsmanship and class. What’s even better- it FITS ME perfectly and feels just like my competition silhouette rifle. If I get the accuracy I think I will from this rifle, I’m going to be a very happy camper!

This is one of those heirloom quality pieces that will likely stay in the family.

Thanks again for all your great advice, this was recommended from page one of this thread. I just needed to do the research to learn, once again- that you get what you pay for!

Regards,
