FX Still Enjoying My FX Royale 400! What Are You Shooting?

Ah yes, another great PCP air rifle that passed the test for me. I have much love for FX Airguns but my experiences have been BEFORE they went to the barrel liner concept. I think they were on top of their game with the Smooth Twist barrels for shooting pellets. I’m more of the set it and forget it crowd so hotrodding airguns ain’t my thang.

This thing just shoots! I don’t have any coo lpictures of paint balls exploding or my beloved offspring wielding an air arm but I do have some simple images of my results of picking up the gun and shooting 20 pellets through it at a very modest 35 yards at dots marked on cardboard. Even with a couple shots pulled I am pleased to show off these groups. It shows the great precision that this rifle is capable of despite the nut behind the trigger.

Happy shooting my friends!

Ahhh, the FX Royale. The Royale was my "dream gun" for the longest time. Could not afford one then and over the years the latest and greatest eventually got my money. Seeing yours in that laminate stock brings back the "Royale longing" all over again. Enjoy that beautiful rifle.

The only airgun I've owned that can "humble" my Veteran is my Bobcat Mk2 .25...with the smooth twist barrel...I've posted volumes about it and dozens

of groups from my Bobcat, most if not all from the "chair shooting position". Like the Vet never had any issues from new....Recently started shooting it on high Power now that I have a compressor...900 fps with JSB 25s, The thing is nothing short of amazing...can sit for weeks and is capable of dime sized groups at 45y on zero...first shots...I just wish it had a nice walnut stock on it...
Group is first six shots after sitting for couple weeks at 45y.
That AOA MOA coin looks familiar....

Love my Royale 400 also.
It isnt going anywhere!
I purchased it brand new, 8 or 10 years ago??? , and even the O rings are still 100% original.
That’s impressive. My Royale was bought in the first 2 years they made them, it was good about eating breach o rings. I became a pro at replacing them. Hindsight, it probably had a burr or something off with the probe. But it was always very accurate. It was my first PCP.

In case anyone following this thread is interested, there's a used bobcat II on AoA's pre-owned section for about $900.

Those Smooth Twist barrels were something else. I had a Bobcat I I sold to a friend, who about year ago gave it to his son. He lives about 7 miles from me. So, I can still shoot it from time to time. Really impressive accuracy!

After my first visit to an EBR in Arizona, I really wanted to be competitive. It looked like so much fun(which it it). I found a used FX 400 for sale at AOA. Someone had used it for EBR, and put it up for sale. At first, it was dipped in a patriotic theme, having the stars and stripes on the stock and a carbon fiber look to the barrel and bottle. The hydro dip on the stock, though very nice, just wasn’t my vision of this rifle. I went to work removing the dip and refinishing the stock. I am very glad I did, beca the wood underneath is beautiful. I did like the carbon fiber look on the barrel and bottle, so I kept it on. It is a custom stock, but I have forgotten the name of the maker. Still an absolute tack driver, only taking second place to my RAW HM 1000x. This is one I will keep to pass down.

The Squirrels in my backyard woods really don't care for my Royale 400 .22 caliber. :) One of my favorite rifles and I hope to have the good sense to never sell it.

But, it is arguably my most accurate gun among my Revere .22, HW100 .22, and my new Marauder .20 from 20-40 yards in terms of very consistent accuracy and a pretty dependable POI. The RAW HM1000X is a bit better, but really only at 50 yards and beyond.

I wish the newer FX models would have kept the ST barrels, or at least offered that barrel option vs. a liner.

Here I am Revoman! The Bobcat, Boss, Royale poster child! :ROFLMAO: I don't own a 400 but my Bobcat is .22. I'm a fanatic about the Original Smooth Twist platform in any caliber. Years down the line their accuracy still amazes. Never get tired of it!
Front to back: Bobcat .22, Royale 500 .25, Boss .30
