Steel Traps?

DonC,

I cant speak for the brands as i really don't know what brands i have. I can tell you that the ones from pyramid that reset when shooting at the pad on the bottom will bend if you miss with a .22 cal running around 900fps.

I try now to buy only swingers designed for .22 cal long rifle or larger.

Craig

Yep... I have swingers for .22LR and swingers for pellets. The pellet swingers are really flimsy - adequate perhaps for 12fpe .177 pellets and not much more than that. In future, for my .22 pellet use, I too will buy swingers designed for .22LR - they’ve got the beef! ;-)

I haven't used a Do-all trap but I have a Champion that I use. I've read that the Do-all will leak lead dust from the seams where it's bolted together. The Champion is welded and doesn't leak-but lead will spit from the front, so taping a piece of cardboard to the front is a good idea. I'm planning on getting a few more fro my home range.

I saw them on Amazon a while back for less than $60 shipped if you're a Prime member, didn't jump on it and don't know if that price is still good.

Don, I have both and the Champions do seem to hold up when left out in the weather a little better?

Jimmy

Middle one is a custom made to hold the larger BR cards, The top two are Champions and the bottom two are Do-Alls

I forgot about this post. Wanted to share a pic of the 'do-all' trap' leaking lead. At least the 2 I have...

I'm sure I could modify it a bit to prevent this but I have a wood base under them so it really hasn't been a problem. The seams just don't seal snugly when the pieces are bolted together. The pic is of my 30y trap from the rear... After prob over 200 .177's and 50-100 .25's. The seam isn't visible but that fold ends at an open gap on the very bottom. I'm sure if I had a welder it would be a 10min fix. The champion ones are a little lighter steel but are fully welder so this issue doesn't exist but they cost more and are certainly usually more expensive to ship.
